MikeMc Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 (edited) A stock looking 1960 starliner....Off the wall????? Bodie built a radical, yet stock appearing with the minor exception of mags and the 18" wide rear tires tucked in. What made it radical is the blown 500 HP 2005 Ford GT motor stuffed under the hood! I'm lookin at a kitbash using the frame and suspension from the '40 willys but where to get that motor?????? and after seeing how BIG that motor is..no subs are close! http://www.bodiestroud.com/completed/ Edited September 14, 2009 by MikeMc
george 53 Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 Mike-O, that ain't but a modular motor with 4 valve heads on it! Check out a recent mustang motor, probly a Shelby,or that GT one. Should be in ONE of them two!
torinobradley Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 Would you be able to source this from a Ford GT kit? I don't know if there was ever a full detail kit of the GT but that would be my first guess at a source. If not a full motor, maybe you can source the heads from the GT and the rest of the motor from the Mustang?
george 53 Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 Guys I just went an checked out the Rides Version of the GT kit. From the looks of it, you can build a blown Mod motor out of it. The valve/cam covers don't look to be quite as wide as the ones on Mike's car, but you could probly fix that with some sheet or something. Maybe you could use the motor out of the 06 mustang,I THINK it came with 2 sets of heads. I'll go check.
george 53 Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 Mike, the AMT 32 "Phantom" Vickie has that engine. Well, Maybe not that EXACT engine, but it sure do got them big ol' valve covers! Maybe ya could mount the blower from one of the Mustang varients? Or the Lightning Pick-up?
Scalefinishes Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 I don't know if this really helps, But I have the Revell 06 GT, the 08 Bullitt, and the 06 Hertz mustang's. None of the kits are the 4 valve heads, nor do they have the superchargers. Jameston

george 53 Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 Badda Bing! There's yer Motor Mike-O!!!!
mwfuss Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 I am glad Mike made this post. I have seen this episode of Hot Rod TV twice now and I was very impressed with the build. It made me want to take a stab at it in plastic. My only hold back was where to obtain the engine, but that has now been answered.
george 53 Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 Soli, it seems any motor coulda done the job. it's the workmanship and execution of the reast of the car that sets it apart. The 60 Ford kit is a GREAT starting piont for a build like this as it lends itself to these mods so well! Yeah, Daddy-O, if you gots da feelins, GO with 'em! It'll make for a REAL nice build!
