Greg Cullinan Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 Real noob question. I've never been to a car show. I'm going with my Dad,Brother in law,2 nephews and my son this sunday. I figure a lot of cars of course. Just wondering what else to expect and if there's anything for the lil ones respectively 6,7,9. Thanks
4DCustoms Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 Well you probably couldn't have picked a better show to go to for the first time, Goodguys shows always have a good turnout and you will see any number of different style and different vintage of cars, there will be alot of stuff for the kids to keep them interested if not the cars alone, they are the future of hotrodding, be carefull though they will want you to buy them all the hotwheels and diacast cars they have on display. Just don't forget, have fun and take lots of pictures, if not for scrapbooks sake then for reference on your future prodjects.
Bowtienutz Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 Don't forget to bring some models to display. Say hi. The place is awesome cars are cruising on the track the autocross racing is awesome. If I wasn't forced to use dialup I'd have tons of photo to show from today's cars.
Jantrix Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 I'm sure you would do this anyway, but I'm going to suggest you give the young ones a good talking to about touching the cars. Car owners are very appreciative of children that admire and don't touch, and will go out of their way to show their appreciation. However, a touchy child will get you escorted to the gate. Here's a shot of my boy from years ago at a show. Owners were so impressed with this little 2-3 year old who walked around the show with his hands in his pockets and a studious look on his face as if he understood everything about cars. A lot of them would let him inside the ropes so we could get photos of him with the car, and even some shots of him inside the cars. I can tell you from experience that is a rare occurance. I hope you have a great time.
2002p51 Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 Wear good walking shoes, bring a camera with fully charged batteries and spares, and plenty of memory. Bring plenty of cash, food and drink at the show is expensive. What Jantrix said about kids touching the cars goes for adults too. Never touch somebody else's car for any reason. Not even lightly. If you normally wear a big bunch of keys or a cell phone outside on your belt, put 'em away. Makes car owners nervous when you're walking in between the cars with stuff on your belt! Take your time, plan to spend the whole day and don't forget to have fun!
