charlzrocks Posted September 30, 2009 Posted September 30, 2009 (edited) I guess all there is to say is that the only things not stock are the aluminum stacks and aluminum headers. I wasn't supposed to cut the quotation marks off the LRW decal but I thought it looked better without them. It's sort of a mix of the very first one and the one at the Garlits museum....it's a Lindberg with TONs of flash. I will never buy another one of their kits, they have lot's to do about quality control over there. Edited September 30, 2009 by charlzrocks
Raul_Perez Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 Charles, It looks like it cleaned up pretty well!! The aluminum stacks and headers look pretty good. I still want to bash one of these kits with the Deora. Yes, I know it's been done before, but I really want one for my collection. I have both kits...what I seem to be lacking is the time to get it done... Later,
charlie8575 Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 I have one of those...I'll be building mine stock, maybe toss in one of the '63 Dodge Slant Sixes. In the defense of Lindberg, remember that a lot of their molds are ancient, but it's good subject matter; the IMC molds are quite complex, and because of that, might wear a little faster and have more possibilities to create flash as they wear. Their newer kits are very well done and look great, so don't be in too much of a rush to write Lindberg off. Limitations aside, yours came out very nicely. Charlie Larkin
Custom Hearse Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 Looks great! I need to finish the 2 I'm working on!

Charlie Larkin Well, that I understand, however, I bought a Lindberg Jolly Roger ship to build and the instructions are so dark (printing looks like it was photocopied 10 generations ago) I may not be able to build it. I contacted Lindberg for some readable instructions and they emailed me back the same ones. They said that was all they had, yet they still produce the kit.....my mind is made up.

Funny you should mention the Deora, as I have plans to make mine into a wheelstander and shorten the body by about an inch. Kinda make it realy wild looking. I gotta find an injected or blown engine and some fat slicks to make it happen, but it will be very cool!

Charles, The Revell 41 Willys kits are a GREAT source of parts for what you're looking for. Even though they're great models right from the box, I bought many of them to use as parts donors. The all have a blown, early HEMI. The street rod versions have an A/C unit, but the drag versions (Stone, Woods & Cook and the Big John Mazmanian) are probably closer to what you want. The chassis on the street rod version is also a bit different than the drag version, but they all have monster tires in the back and smaller ones in the front. Later,
walt francis Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 Charles, I have to say that turned out really nice I still have my original LRW and Touch Tone Terror and they were rough then to clean up.

I am gonna keep that one in mind!
