oldskoolmini Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 I need someone to fix my airbrush. I have no clue how to fix it. after my first time using it I went to clean it and tore an o-ring. also when i go to blow air through it the top to the paint container blows off and flies 10 feet. can someone help fix it? I can send it to someone to fix but the thing is I have no money to pay someone. I get a disability check that barely covers food for a month. I guess this would be a charity thing or something. my name is Jake Bloodworth. in February of 2008 I was in a horrific accident driving a dumptruck which i was thrown out of and run over. I am classified as a paraplegic but i can move my legs some and can walk a couple of feet. you can google my name and find the whole story. please help out a fellow modeler. thank you.
Guest promodmerc Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Jake, Help us out here with more info. What brand of air brush is it? What model?
Jairus Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Sounds like you need to replace the "O" ring for it to work right. Google the manufacturer and see if they sell them on-line. You could also call your local hobbyshop or art store or automotive paint supply house and see if they sell replacement parts for your airbrush. This is regardless of the maker.
Harry P. Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Lowes, Home Depot or any home center-type store or hardware store sells O rings for a few pennies. Take the original torn one (if you still have it) and just match up the size. If you don't still have the torn one, then, like Jairus says, just go online to the manufacturer's website and order a replacement. Sounds like a very quick and easy (and inexpensive) fix.
oldskoolmini Posted October 9, 2009 Author Posted October 9, 2009 It's a Master G44. I found the o-ring online. thanks for the help guys.will replacing the o-ring fix the top from blowing off?

I'm not familiar with the G44, but be sure your bottle vent hole is not clogged. If its clogged, that would explain why the top blows off. Gary
Harry P. Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 How does the paint cup lid attach? Screw on? Are the threads bad? Was the cap screwed on tightly? When you blow air through the brush it has to go somewhere... if the tip was clogged and the paint cap was loose, the air would blow off the cap instead of going through the tip.
Jairus Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 (edited) Generally the seals and O-rings are to separate the compressed air and the paint. If an O-ring is leaking you will generally notice bubbles forming in the paint cup or paint bottle. Since you say that the bottle "flew" off then I would say that the O-ring replacement will solve your problem. Edited October 9, 2009 by Jairus
