Nick Winter Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 well I got this from Bob29579, it's the AMT kit of KITT I'm building it how you saw it in the pilot episode, so the way you first saw it. the pilot episode was called "Knight of the Pheonix". so far I have painted KITT and all of his parts, now 1 thing I'd like to explain is that the Trans Am Recaro limited edition has black cloth seat inserts. The body color is Tremclad Gloss Black staraight over the plastic, I gave it 1 coat, and as far as it looks it just needs clear. The kit I'm using First some referance
Nick Winter Posted October 18, 2009 Author Posted October 18, 2009 Ok well here's the pic's of my kit of KITT that cracks me up everytime. Enjoy, and give me some feedback. Nick
Albert Moore Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 Nice job on the paint. Black can be a bugger to apply smoothly and without junk settling in it so it looks like you nailed it really well. I can't wait to see it finished up (KITT is my favorite TV car as I've got a soft spot for Trans Ams). Cheer, Albert

Well this is my second trans am I've BUILT but I have 2 '78 kits that are sealed, 1 '78 built and a '69 sealed, and I've got a '79 waiting at my LHS I just got to go get it.

I've got four myself (three unbuilt and one completed)- KITT of course, an AMT '79 Trans AM, and a Revell 1998 Ram Air Trans Am (my favorite T/A) in the stash. The built up Trans Am is a 1/25 Revell 1993/94 T/A (the detailed snap together kit). Cheers, Albert

I need to finish mine he aint far off just some little things. He aint AMT either lol Well I Havcen't found a set in my parts box, were the front seats came out of, there actually from a '63 Corvette. Well in the Pilot Episode KITT was a Recaro Edition T/A. Yours looks well on it's way to done. Nick, hate to tell you this, KITT wasn't a "Recaro Edition T/A, just a regular one. The seats were all tan, no black on them and the headrests were a part of the seat, not seprate. What looks like a black inseart on the seat in the pic is just the shadow from the T top bar. My 1/1 '82 S/E Firebird had the same interiour and seats but in blue. They used those seats in KITT because it was easier to modify it to lok like no one was driving. The driver sat lower and back with a "faux" seat and could see out the hole in the headrest area. Actually Steve in the Pilot Episode KITT was a Recaro Edition T/A, Later he was just a regular T/A modified. And the seats did have Black inserts in the pilote epsiode.

Well I finished up KITT today, I'm proud of how he looks and once more this is a Replica of the FIRST KITT which was a Recardo Edition T/A, It's built to look like how it did in the PILOT EPISODE "KNIGHT OF THE PHEONIX". Enjoy. Oh and look in the Under Glass Section Soon.

FujimiLover Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 Nice job on that kit. Those older ones were hard to do. Have you seen Aoshima's newest ones? They have real working scanner-lights up front, both for KITT and KARR. Plus, they just now came out with the fourth-season version of KITT with his Super Pursuit Mode! Looks really cool, I'm tempted to get all three of those to add to my Knight Rider collection.

FujimiLover Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 All I got is the 1/18 scale Joy-Ride KARR, wish I gotten Aoshima's version when it was available, KITT and KARR in 1/43 scale from Aoshima, and KITT and KARR HotWheels from Japan. Would like to get both KITT and KARR in 1/18 scale Aoshima, and the Kyosho 1/28 scale Knight Rider AutoScale bodies. And of coarse mentioned kit's. Still need to get season four on DVD, or Itunes.

Ok I know of KITT in 1/18 scale, a company around here has it.
Nick Winter Posted October 18, 2009 Author Posted October 18, 2009 I dunno Nick. I've been looking at clips on youtube of the pilot episode and haven't been able to find any showing an interiour like that ,, have found clips of "KNIGHT OF THE PHOENIX" though with the regular interiour like this clip,, ??? But if you say so,,, Maybe I'm finding a different pilot episode than you did. It happens. Things get changed in pilots all the time. Oh ok well some pics I have said other wise, but ok.

FujimiLover Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 Thanks but I'd rather wait for the Aoshima version. It's of higher quality. They now have one that speaks, but unfortunately it's in Japanese of coarse. I have the Ertle KARR, but don't like it as much. No licensee plate!
moparmagiclives Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 Those inside shots bring back some memories but for some reason they remind me of something a little newer, anyone sat in a new camaro? Its like your flying a poorly assembled plane built by a failing company.....did I mention there not going to renew or contract next year. Anyway, great builds guys.
