SpreadAxle Posted December 3, 2006 Posted December 3, 2006 If you've been reading the topic "I need help", this is the truck in question. It was started a very long time ago, and the project was shelved while I tried to figure out how to construct the door hinges. There are 2 on each door, and they are small, so it's difficult. I made a promise to myself to finish it before I opened any new kits. It's the only model I never finished. There will be a dropdeck trailer behind it when finished. This is the first mock up, so I thought I would share it. Thanks for looking. 8) So far, I have the steer axle working, some of the air details started, and some engine detail started. I will post progress as I go.
CITY COBRA Posted December 3, 2006 Posted December 3, 2006 KW. That thing looks cool. Get a Peterbilt low air leaf cutoff. Cut the ville behind the cab get liners add some rail put her to 300-350" of wheel base. P.S check your post KW I need help.
SpreadAxle Posted December 3, 2006 Author Posted December 3, 2006 A stretched out Ford, now that would be different. After I get the doors working, I will be opening up the back wall on the cab for a sort "walk Thru" opening, so the driver doesn't have to crawl thru the window. Check tomorrow, I should have the engine most of the way done. These injector lines take awhile, a lot of patience.
SpreadAxle Posted December 3, 2006 Author Posted December 3, 2006 Here is the 32088 Cat engine slightly modified. The injector pump is scratchbuilt, along with the lines(which was a night mare) and the fuel/water separator was added(above right side valve cover). I will post more as time goes on. The reason I left the valve covers chrome is that I wnat the appearance of an older truck that was rebuilt and dressed up a little bit by its new owner. you'll see what i mean.
Old Albion Posted December 3, 2006 Posted December 3, 2006 KW, This is very good. love the engine details. In your other post "I need help" Jairus recommended trying piano hinges from model car garage. I have been on there web site and ordered 6 sets. When they arrive I will post a photo so you can see what they are like. Your hinge design is very like the Revell hinge type, simple and practical. This will be a great model when its done. Keep up the good work and good luck with the rest of the project. Best Wishes Dave Bates
SpreadAxle Posted December 3, 2006 Author Posted December 3, 2006 thank you. I'm happy to see it coming together. I hope to have the doors on soon, I'm just trying to get a little further on the frame so I can get a coat of paint on it, and the engine installed.
SpreadAxle Posted March 21, 2007 Author Posted March 21, 2007 I think I will be doing some engine work for my two current projects tonight. I will have a pic of further progress on this 3208 posted before the night is thru.
