charlzrocks
Well since joining the forum I have seen many tips on how to remove chrome from parts....the best being bleach...but I only want to remove enough so that the glue will hold....hmmmm.....bleach....small and specific areas.......... "SOFT SCRUB with BLEACH" and a q-tip, toothpick or other small applicator that you can rub the chrome off with. Rinse well with water! WORKS LIKE A CHARM!!! Especially on parts like tie rod ends, strut support ends etc. Won't harm the plastic! I guess i just got soooo tired of scraping it off with a #11 blade that something had to give.. charlzrocks
91% alcohol for a day and a half, no scrubbing, no problem. Gary No scrubbing with the Soft Scrub, just a bit of rubbing. Chrome comes off literally in seconds. You can really pinpoint what you want to remove as well! Why wait a day and a half. hot-wheels
I think the point is to remove the chrome from a small specific area not the entire piece. I like the idea! Nice tip! Edited October 23, 2009 by hot-wheels
charlzrocks
I think the point is to remove the chrome from a small specific area not the entire piece. I like the idea! Nice tip! Thanks! That is exactly the idea!........removing the chrome from a small area for gluing....instead of scraping it which can be very tedious on very small contact points. I will make the assumption that you are rinsing the part well with soap and water after using the soft scrub. If so then YES it should!
