So, Dave .....

I've been intensely reading all the paint tips you've been posting over the past months and really like what I see. It all seems simple and just common sense. This rings my chimes. Everywhere else I see paint tips that just make it seem a chore and more of a chemistry lesson! True, it IS all chemistry, but I don't want to have to build a model of the molecules just to spray some paint.

But now I'm gonna pin you down and give you a really difficult one to word an answer to. This has bugged me forever as every paint instruction I've ever seen has used pretty much similar terms with no explanation. Maybe it's just because the words are pretty simple ones and everyone SHOULD know the meanings in the 2nd grade, but not necessarily with respect to painting.

What I'm getting at is the definition of LIGHT, MEDIUM AND HEAVY coats. Seems pretty simple. I'm not completely dumb on this, but I'd really love your take on it. Maybe a photo of a LIGHT paint application would help. (I know you only have a 15 minute window to get a shot. )

This IS not an easy thing to put into words, but any attempt you could make would be appreciated. .. you can even capitalize it all if you like.. B)

I start the day with a B)

Thanks Dave. I KNEW you were going to say it was practice. ;) "LIGHT" was really the one I was looking for and you defined it well. It's not so much xeroxing your methods as it is totally defining the ways of a great painter so as to develop a style adapts it to yet another student.

I first wasted my money 50 years ago on some cans of Pactra Candy Apple wanting a one coat paint job and be done with it! "WET" probably is too LIGHT a word to describe the disastrous results. ;) I have gotten some decent paint jobs since returning 40 years later, but there's always room for improvement. One modeler inspiring another is all we can ask of this hobby and you have answered my question well. ..no photos required. :D Thanks much!
