MonoPed Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 I need some help figuring out the whole Pegasus wheel thing. I have this set of Pegusus 19" wheels and tires: I also have these Tamiya wheels, which are about .020" larger than the Peggy's, but fit in the Peggy tires just fine: These look pretty good under the PL Ford GT, but the rears need to be bigger to fill out the GT's rear wheel arch: How difficult are the 23" sleeves or stepped sleeves to fit over the 19" wheels? All I have seen out there are 23" sleeves and wheels with very low profile tires. Do they have a set of 23" tires with a little more sidewall to them? I only need the sleeves and tires for the rear of the GT, I just want to make sure I get the right set. Thanx!
Matt T. Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 Brian, you'll need a set of 23" wheels that come with the fatter sidewall tires and those tires will fit on the 23" sleeves no prob. Then intall your BBS wheels in there and it'll look just right. The 19" wheels usually fit without an issue. Sometimes some sanding of the chrome around the outside may be required to seat them in the sleeves. It looks like there is enough material on the bead of that Tamiya wheel that if you need to shave it down to get it in the sleeve, that should work. These fronts & rears are the taller sidewalls offered by Pegasus. The 19" front you're using is the same as this front. So this should give you an idea of the ODs you'll get with this combo. HTH.
MonoPed Posted December 6, 2006 Author Posted December 6, 2006 I was already committed to to reworking the Tamiya wheels to get em in the sleeves, so no surprise there. Where can I get a pair of the sleeves and the tires shown in your pic? Thanx Matt!! Brian
