arick Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 TDR Innovations has completed the CAD design and RP production of our first independant front and rear suspension kits for the Deuce chassis. The cross members fit the kit chassis with no modification to the rails. The front suspension utilizes TDR A arms, coilovers and disc brakes. We have not yet developed a rack and pinion steering system for this kit. The rear suspension is similar to a Jag IRS with inboard disc brakes and a Halibrand Quick Change style center section. These spy shots will give you an idea of how these new suspension parts will fit on the R/M kit Deuce chassis, with no modification required. Our next step is to do a test build and once we are satisfiend that its right, we'll be adding these two suspension's to the growing list of TDR products. We hope to announce these items for sale prior to year end.
Harry P. Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 You guys are putting out some incredibly cool stuff!

Gregg Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 I hope mine's on it's way! I just got the Big Tub. See post in Reviews. I'm getting bit again by the big scale bug I'm thinking, Big Tub, TDR Offy and 9", some kind of different front grille, chopped windshield, Bob Dudek rims and front end, MCM Buick front drums, maybe get that new resin guy, Alan Raab, to do some big boy tires? hhhhmmmmmm...... Sorry Harry, I know, back to work..... yes boss...
arick Posted November 3, 2009 Author Posted November 3, 2009 Hey Gregg, here's a couple of teasers for your Big Tub build........ An Offy should be followed by a Quick Change rear end. The new TDR QC is done and will be in our cataloge soon. Add a set of TDR rotors and calipers along with the TDR four bars and coil overs and you've got a period perfect car. The TDR QC comes with a one piece center section and open drive. For you guys that want to complement your build with a drive shaft and U Joints, TDR now offers a six piece kit, consisting of two stars and four yokes. These items are available now and will be in our cataloge soon. For more information, contact TDR at "tdr.innovations@gmail.com". Geesh, I gotta bet back to work on my own builds!!!
arick Posted November 6, 2009 Author Posted November 6, 2009 Some of you have asked if the new TDR IRS will work with the Big T and the new Big Tub. The answer is "YES", we are currently working up a cross member that will allow the TDR IRS to fit the T chassis.
jbwelda Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 wow. i have to get those suspension components! i bought the 1/8 offy motor (those are 1/8 jackstands in the upper left and are not included with the motor...they are mega cool just by themselves): and plan to put it together this winter, and post a thread on the workbench area during construction. then i will proceed to build a lakester much like the 1/24 i finished recently. great stuff from TDR. the resin is a little unorthodox to my experience but i am waiting to put a first primer coat on it to see how it cleans up.
arick Posted November 7, 2009 Author Posted November 7, 2009 (edited) Thanks for the positive comments Bill. There are two tutorials you might want to have a look at before you build your Offy. This is not a solicitation for your membership but if you visit www.scalemotorcars.com forum and click on "Large Scale Cars" you will find two excellent tutorials on building and detailing the Offy. You will have to scroll through several pages but you'll find them. We do not recommend the use of power tools when smoothing and drilling our RP products. Depending on builders preference, usually all that is required is a light sanding (use sandpaper, small files, sanding sticks etc) followed by a couple of coats of high build primer. If you wish to drill holes for fittings, tape the part to a piece of wood and use a hand drill to open the holes. All of this is explained in the two tutorials. I can also put you in touch with a couple of folks who have already built the Offy's if you need any further information. We are also working on adding a transmission to the Offy. Once again, thanks for the positive comments and we look forward to your build. Edited November 7, 2009 by arick
jbwelda Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 (edited) thanks and you know what i would really like, being the old school kinda guy i am, is a set of printed instructions and/or those tutorials. i say that because printed material is easier to look at and more convenient in situ than going to a computer monitor, but also because i would like them to accompany the finished article or in my archives just for future reference...or to assure i (we actually, meaning your other customers) that if i put the kit on the shelf for several years, those reference materials will still be available (the internet is a transitory thing by nature so no telling if in a year or decades time anything will still be there). so what i am getting at is it might be a good idea to print up some material and include it with the parts instead of just relying on an internet presence. certainly the net presence is ideal for up to the minute information, but basic info should come with the parts. oh and back to the "old school" part: of course i dont have a printer compatible with my opsys so i cannot just print pages out! maybe if i put them onto cd and take em to kinkos...hey i dont even have a cell phone yet! i am looking forward to getting into this motor and the allison (see allison thread) but also the suspension bits too. arick Posted November 7, 2009 Author Posted November 7, 2009 Bill, go to the TDR website at www.tdrcatalog.com, click on the engine and you should find everything you need. If there's anything else we can do for you, E us at tdr.innovations@gmail.com.
jbwelda Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 (edited) i want to read the tutorials on the offy motor (sorry for off topic but the same would apply if i wanted to check closer into the ifs/irs), but i cant seem to get registered at the scalemodelcars site to check the forum. it seems to have some kinda hitlerian security on it where you can only browse a certain amount of posts then it forces you to register. ive tried registering for the past hour or so (a complete waste of time) and now for some reason its insisting i send in a parental notification form or some such bs. to make a long story short: i dont want to mess with that. not to mention both my parents are deceased seeing as how i am pushing 60 years old. i would like these tutorials emailed to me if at all possible. jbwelda at gmail dot com. please. and its too bad its so uptight on that forum; there look to be a lot of good posts about large scale builds. i dont really want to contribute just now, just read. but doesnt seem to be possible without registering. (edited for spelling) Edited November 22, 2009 by jbwelda
arick Posted November 22, 2009 Author Posted November 22, 2009 Sorry about those problems Joe. I'll deal with it and send you a PM.

I'm a Viet Nam vet and retired so I just now bought the 1/8 deuce hot rod 3 n 1 for $103.95 from Hobbie Center online. Was a bit spendy but I figured I best get it now cause I waited awhile ago on a 1/8 scale 1954 ford and never found another. I love the bigger stuff as easier to handle. Just wishlisting the chassy parts I just saw here. Will keep in mind. Looking forward to seeing more people expanding on talents. Thanks.
