charlzrocks Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 (edited) Here is a car that I would love to know more about. It's not the "Predicta" in the photo, but the one circled in red in the background. I found this other one on the bay, said it might be a IMC Mako vette? It doesn't look like the first one except for the canopies.... any ideas on either of these cars guys? Edited November 12, 2009 by charlzrocks
lordairgtar Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 The cars pictured are both Darryl Starbird creations. The one you circled is called the Star Ship. God only knows what that red thing is from eBay.
lordairgtar Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 Found the red model. It's a Cosma Ray, another Darryl Starbird car, well it's in his museum anyway.

Modelmartin Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 (edited) The "Starship" is obviously Corvette based. The doors and quarters are the giveaway. Cosma-ray was an MPC kit. Edited November 12, 2009 by Modelmartin
Trans Am Erik Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 The Starship began life as an early 70's Camaro! I saw this car up close at the Detroit Autorama. I thought it was a T/A, it has the shaker through it's Corvette hood. Here it is at Cobo Hall earlier this year!

The quarters sure look 'Vett-ish. The width of the car is definitely more Camaro than 'Vette.
charlzrocks Posted November 13, 2009 Author Posted November 13, 2009 Wow!! Some great information there guys !! Thanks!! (now if I could just find a kit of them!)
charlzrocks Posted November 13, 2009 Author Posted November 13, 2009 Ya know, I was wondering about that myself....Starbird or Barris......I saw that Barris designed it somewhere on the web and then it's on Starbirds website.........AND in his museum.....says he designd it....go figgure....still can't find a kit!
lordairgtar Posted November 15, 2009 Posted November 15, 2009 (edited) Barris had nothing to do with that car. You can even see the link in the post by Bluesman Mark that the model kit box has Darryl's signature on it. Everything Barris had that was made into kits had his name emblazoned on the box. The MPC kit refers to no one. Edited November 15, 2009 by lordairgtar
