Tedly Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 Is anyone else having any trouble with slixx decals breaking apart? I had a Dyno Don set a while back and they said they were having problems with that set and sent me two new sheets and the same thing happend. Then I used another set for the Brutus funny car.....same thing. Now I started a set for the Nanook fuel altered and the same thing is happening. I started spraying testors decal making spray over them and that helps some but I still have to be VERY careful or they still break apart. I know slixx is about the best there is and just wondering if any one else is having the same problem. I have used them a few years ago with great results. I don't think it could be anything I am doing wrong. I just dip them in water for a second and then set them on a paper towel until they slide off.
Len Woodruff Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 Which one fo the Dyno Don decals did you have the problem with?
Tedly Posted December 21, 2009 Author Posted December 21, 2009 Which one fo the Dyno Don decals did you have the problem with? It was the one for the mustang 2 pro stock Part # DDPS3-7030
chris coller Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 The Nascar decals from 1997 -1998 and 2000 -2002 had issues. Anything with neon colors was brittle as hell. I built an Ernie Irvin Thunderbird and used 3 sets to finish the car. Not sure about the Drag decals. The decals I have used to do slot car bodies I have had little or no problem with. Just inform Slixx about it I guess.
Tedly Posted December 22, 2009 Author Posted December 22, 2009 Just had some more decals fall apart on the Nanook fuel altered even after re-coating with testors decal maker spray. I just e-mailed SLIXX to see what's up. I have used older ones without a problem. I asked them if they changed anything in the manufacturing proccess. I'll have to see what they can tell me.
Tedly Posted December 23, 2009 Author Posted December 23, 2009 Got an E-mail back from SLIXX they said that the Nanook is an old sheet and it could have been a problem with the ink. They are sending me a new set along with some liquid decal film to try. They do have excellent customer service. The last time I had a bad sheet with the Dyno Don set they sent me 2 new ones.
disabled modeler Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 I wonder if there making decals for revell..........the problems sound sort of the same as i have had...
Bruno Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 I've been having the same problem using the Slixx Bruce Allen Outlaw pro stock decals, I did contact Slixx about those decals breaking apart and Becky sent me another decal sheet along with a bottle of liquid decal film (Slixx do have excellent customer service!). I tried it, it did help some, but gotta be really careful cause they were still breaking. A friend of mine had the same problem with another Slixx decal sheet... I tried spraying clear on them, they were still breaking apart... Now I am not bashing on Slixx here, I was just wondering if someone here found a better way to fix those problematic decal sheets?
