plasticfrog Posted February 18, 2010 Author Posted February 18, 2010 Trucks looking good! What frame are you using on it? I'm planning on doing another short bed soon and as a 2 wheel drive, but I don't think I'll lower too much. I used the rear half of the chassis off the 1939 ford kit by amt the one that has the vett motor in with 20' wheels.
disabled modeler Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 Hi Jason!....Could you use a set of the custom wheels/tires from the 66 wagon kit?

whale392 Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 Loving this Dodge build (I see them not getting any respect in real life). I will have to find a longbed and do as you did.....make it short and mate it to a LRE cab.
plasticfrog Posted February 23, 2010 Author Posted February 23, 2010 Hi! Everyone here is some update on the chevy I painted the first coat of paint where the primer is will be painted white and I made my own rear bumper by cutting two stepside bumpers to make a longer one and it will be painted white also Im going for a stock work truck from the 70s I've seen several 1:1 with white bumpers.I was putting in a 454 but I changed it to 400sb with a 4 speed.I got a pic off the web to go by I put it on here so you can and for fun I threw a pic of my 62 chevy I have been slowly working on
hawkeye649 Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 (edited) Your right on that I built one before and relized that the gas cap on a 78 is round and doesnt have cover over it.so Im filling in the lines and drilling a hole in it and using a gas cap off the 66 nova. Don't forget that it was on the other side for a single tank setup! Chevy trucks with dual tanks had a cap on each side (one of the dumbest things I can think of in the world of engineering, and I am a chevy man through-and-through). Actually, it is on the drivers side. But here is a GREAT idea that we modeler's can use! http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/showthread.php?p=3139616 Those are fender tops! hawkeye649 Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 Hopefully you caught the correction. Dual tank = one on each side. Single tank is apparently on the drivers side. In any event, there are no body panel lines around the gas tank that gead to the cab and the top of the bed, like on the fleet side GMC bed.
