Started with 72 gmc stepside cab, 68 c10 long bed cut down to shortbed, revell 66 c10 chassis. Scratched built 2 link rear end. Rattle can laq gold with airbrush metallic red flames. Clear coat testor wet look.
THIS IS MPC 78 CHEVY STEPSIDE KIT. I USED 84 GMC BED AND MOLDED MY OWN CHROME TRIM ON THE SIDES I ALSO USED HUP CAPS FROM AMT CHEVY VAN AND REVELL'S 20 INCH RIM BACK PIECES TO MAKE THE RIMS.
I FINALY FINISHED 57 AFTER A YEAR TO BUILD IT. I OPENED THE DOORS AND USED "LAZYMODELER" FLAME MASK TO GET THE GHOST FLAMES. I GOT BEST SHOW / BEST PAINT AT STL. MO. MODEL SHOW.
Nice project...here's one I did to inspire you. I used the 84 gmc bed and flip the rear-end to lower it. Also I sanded down the front suspension where it connects to the chassis to lower it. I painted with flok acrylic paints with future floor care as clear.
My first time to airbrush flames using the lazy modeler flaming mask.I used all acrylic paints with future as clear. The rims came from the 66 elcomino painted flat grey in center, and a two carb intake from the 69 nova kit rest of the kit is built stock.
I have a lot of the MPC Chevy pickups I went to the STL MO. model show last may and picked up another on for 15 bucks. It was put together but in fair shape..evilbay 100 bucks easy if I bought on there.
