whale392 Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Might want to get the alignment looked at!! In all seriousness though, I love AMXs and can't wait to see how this one turns out.
Space Cowboy Posted January 5, 2010 Author Posted January 5, 2010 looks good any idea of the color yet? I'm thinking of going with a Charcoal Metalic...

MyBradKeselowski Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Very nice. I didn't know these exist. Is this a resin or plastic? Is this from the old Johan AMX mold?
Space Cowboy Posted January 6, 2010 Author Posted January 6, 2010 Very nice. I didn't know these exist. Is this a resin or plastic? Is this from the old Johan AMX mold? This is all plastic. Not sure which mold they used.
Bruno Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 Nice an AMX! The body/bumpers looks exactly like the JoHan I build (see my AMX build here) mine had the AMX scripts on the bumpers where the license plates goes, just like yours. I heard there are a few differences between the Testors kit and the JoHan kit. The Testors kit is supposed to have the correct 390 engine, is it true? Does the chassis have everything molded in? (exhaust/diff/suspension) Also, on mine, the front seats were molded in the interior tub, same on yours?
rustybill1960 Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 YES indeed, that is a nice looking kit, at least what i can see of it. do they still offer that kit? keep at the build and thanks for sharing later dude russ
Ragnar Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 I have always liked the AMX. I owned one Orange with black strips. It had the Highest rated 390 and could turn high 13s. The kit reminds me of the JoHan kit. You can build a nice model from it! Keep us posted with updates! CHEERS!
charlie8575 Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 (edited) SeVille sold the AMX, Rambler and 'Cuda molds to Testors. After that, I don't know what happened, but I do know those are the JoHan molds. Castillian Gray is charcoal...and looking at it, I think Tamyia Gunmetal is pretty close to it. The charcoal interior was an off-black, best replicated by mixing a drop or two of white into some black paint. Charlie Larkin Edited January 6, 2010 by charlie8575

The chassis has only the rear end molded in no exhaust..

Bruno Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 Hey Bruno well the 390 i got a long time ago in a trade. The chassis has only the rear end molded in no exhaust.. But what engine is in the kit? The JoHan had the 327. Looks like Testors corrected the chassis a bit, the JoHan had the exhaust molded in. Too bad Testors left the rear end / leaf springs molded in...

Space Cowboy Posted January 7, 2010 Author Posted January 7, 2010 Got it primered and put the engine bay from a 69 Taladega into it. More coming soon.
