Hi everyone! I wanted to get away from the Corvette limo build for a little bit, so I built this Monogram '70 Superbird in one week. I was afraid if I didn't get away for awhile I was gonna burn out on the limo and then shove it in a box to sit for awhile before I got back on it.

The only thing not straight from the box are the wheels, which came in the Monogram Petty Superbird. I thought they looked better than the 500's that came with this kit. I did not detail it at all with engine wiring or anything else, I just put it together for the fun of it. The decals are not on it yet. I ordered a set from Keith Marks, because this kit doesn't include the logo for the wing and the headlight cover.

On to the pictures, and thanks for looking!

Nice work Marshall, One week huh, takes me that long to open the box. LOL

Can't wait to see it with decals applied, should make a nice finishing touch.

Looks good already... the decals should make it that much better. But what's with the "crumbling" chrome trim on the A pillar and vent wing?

Nice vinyl top, BTW...B)

Thanks Ron! The decals should be in anytime now. I just thought it stunk that Monogram didn't add the wing logo, but I guess they couldn't get the licensing.

Thanks Nick! I'm a big Petty fan. The hair you see isn't stuck to the car... I just didn't see it when I took the pics. It's gone now.

Thanks Harry! I just need to touch up the silver paint on it. I ran out of chrome foil, so I just decided to paint the trim.

Nice job Marshall !!! I really like the wheels you threw on it. I can't wait to see it with the decals on it :D

Thanks Billy!!! Your '34 is looking great. Can't wait to see more of it!

I was just wondering what the "cheating" part meant. I see the Vette Limo haunting you looming in the back of every picture :D

I want to see if anyone can guess...:D Wanna give it a try Greg?

Yeah... Even though I stepped away from the limo, it's still lurking in the shadows!

I know what you mean by cheating, but you did such a great job on the vinyl top, you really can't tell the kit was molded in that color.

Molded in black? Nope... I brush painted the top. It came out kinda cruddy the first coat, so I gave it a second coat, and it came out perfect... Maybe...:)

Anybody else wanna figure out where I cheated? Hehehehe...;)

I think RJ was suggesting it is molded in blue and you just did the top, which was my first guess til I looked at the rear picture closer and now think its paint, just very smooth paint :D. So my guess is that it isn't glued together, just kind of propped up!

Yes, I thought it was molded in blue.

Thanks Greg.

Sorry Ron, I mis-understood you...

I polished the plastic with some polish instead of painting it. One of the reasons I haven't done much work on the limo is because it's too cold to paint, so I figured I'd build one that I could polish up and build.

Marshall I am going to have to start shopping for molded in color bodies :P.It looks good and will save me alot of heartbreak.lol.

Thanks Greg! I prefer to paint, but when the high outside is 6, polishing a molded color body is a whole lot easier!B)

Nice build! Great when you can polish the plastic, and leave it at that! I built a '71 'Cuda (purple), and Hot Wheels Trans-Am Camaro (blue) like that, and I'm happy with the way they turned out!!

Thanks Tony! Yeah... It makes it a whole lot easier when you don't have to paint the body. The decals should be here this week, and I'll post pics of them attached to the car.

Got the decals from Keith Marks today, so I'll be posting pics of the car after I get them added...

I also ordered the 71 Roadrunner decals, so they are included on the sheet. Now I just gotta figure out where the kit is at...:P
