Longbow Posted January 18, 2010 Author Posted January 18, 2010 Well I will answer my on question & continue to report, after five & one half hours It appears to be melting .

Longbow Posted January 19, 2010 Author Posted January 19, 2010 Twenty seven hours & counting. The paint is like the meat on a good smoked Boston butt after that length of time , just falls off the bone so to speak.
kyledr330 Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 Gary, Don't waste your money on DOT 3. If you spray your cars with enamels or acrylics just use Castrol Super Clean, it's only like $7.00 per gallon. I use DOT 3 for stripping lacquer paints of models.
Longbow Posted January 19, 2010 Author Posted January 19, 2010 Thanks for the info but, As you can see that cow has already left the barn.I bought the brake fluid from Wally world for 3.00 bucks a quart,I only needed two quarts for the stripping process.Nice to know that It will work for lacquers as well, bonus Thirty Five hours & things are looking good for round two at the old paint booth this weekend.
crazyjim Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 Could there be a purpose to get the paint all wrinkled and then have it stay like that?
MikeMc Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 I shoot with lacquers and fresh DOT3 will strip a body bare in 12 to 14 hours if its kept between 75 and 80
boohoo Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 i was wondering will dot 3 strip this body of laquer and paint. ive nevr tried todo this before and want to make sure before i start also one other thing will it do anything to the plastic light cover as i cant remove them. the person i bought it from put some sort of resin or putty behind the light pods as seen in pics thanks for any help
Longbow Posted January 21, 2010 Author Posted January 21, 2010 Sorry boohoo I cannot answer your questions , this is my first time @ stripping paint & the paint that I`m stripping is enamel.Hope someone with more experience will help you. Well here it is already to paint. The brake fluid worked great & I`m stoked about round two for this week end.
