Can you clear coat dry transfer decals?

Hi.....I was wondering if you can use clear coat over dry transfer pinewood derby decals? I have a project that I want to do using them on a car body and applying clear coat over them....What clear is recommended to do so?.....Thanks! Mark

My best luck has been to do as Mark said , put them on a decal sheet . Then I will clear over with Testors clear laquer, never a problem ! Ed Shaver

Hi Ed! and Hi to all those who sent replies...Thank you for the input, The project is my version of a 71 duster demon instead of using a dart body. And for a funny car project...I will have to try the tips when I get around to them....Thanks! Mark

I did Clear coat over some years ago. but I tested first like some one else has sugested. It was also just Testors clear enamel

I've used Tamiya clear over dry transfer lettering with no problems.

I'd be VERY careful applying any lacquer over a dry transfer. I've had many sheets made over the years and have ruined some with Testors "mild" lacquer dullcote.
