The Creative Explorer Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 I just started working on the 1/8 Turbo Trans/Am and the engine could need some more detailling. So I spent the last 2 days trying to find good reference material, but I can't find good Engine pictures. What I need is pictures of the engine, out of the car. So Side, bottom, front (back). Who can help me out? Everything is more than welcome, Thanks, Erik
The Creative Explorer Posted January 20, 2010 Author Posted January 20, 2010 Thanks Jordan, But I really need pictures of the engine outside a car, and then all around. And I think they are hard to come by.
Jordan White Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 (edited) That should be plenty. You can see the top details, the driver's side details, and the passenger side for the most part. The starter is on the driver's side, and the oil filter is on the passenger side coming out at about a 90 degree angle. Not sure what else there is to see. Edited January 20, 2010 by YJIslander
Stang67 Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 (edited) Here's some more Erik. I have ones of the Pace Car as well. Cheers. Three out of four ain't bad!! Edited January 21, 2010 by Stang67
The Creative Explorer Posted January 21, 2010 Author Posted January 21, 2010 Thanks again! Jordan, I did found that picture, and it helped me a lot. I was hoping to find something similar for the passenger side. I need to know where the dipstick goes and where the temperature.sensors are.
ChrisPflug Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 (edited) The second picture in the first response shows the temp sensor in the intake next to the water neck, temp sender for the gauge on the LH side between the front two cylinders The dipstick is also in most of the photos and can be seen pretty well in the LH shot of the engine out of the car (look behind the air cleaner and at the LH side of the rear of the block) Doesn't seem to be much to see on the passenger side, just the oil filter and adapter and turbo junk Edited January 21, 2010 by ChrisPflug
The Creative Explorer Posted January 23, 2010 Author Posted January 23, 2010 (edited) Thanks Chris, I think I can do the sensors now, but still need a picture of the engine passenger side. I am building 1/8 scale and want to do my best on it. I did see the dipstick on the passengerside, but I can't see where it goes into the engine-block and need to see how that looks like. sorry if I am a pain in the butt, but I just want to reproduce the engine as genuine as possible, so I need to see that turbo-junk as well Edited January 23, 2010 by Erik Olijnsma
ChrisPflug Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 The oil dipstick on the 301 was moved to the DRIVER'S side rear of the block and can be seen pretty well in the pic with the "High Performance Pontiac" magazine logo (the tube is shiny natural metal) Really not much to see as far as passenger side- an exhaust manifold and the three pipes, oil filter sticking "straight out" as opposed to the regular Pontiac "vertical" adapter
