vizio93 Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 Looking good since I last saw it man, I love that battery
Jon Cole Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 Nice, but you may want to look at reference material for Optima batteries... Here is an image worth printing in scale... You could sand that top smooth, print out the top and attach, drill two holes for posts.
Ryan S. Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 This thing is looking great. I'm loving those wheels. Looks awesome!
71datsun1200 Posted February 11, 2010 Author Posted February 11, 2010 A few more pictures of my wip. I worked on the tubs, tranny crossmember and final rear stance. the front isn't finished but will sit as pictured.About the battery, i was just looking to get close. i did sand off the caps and lettering.not pictured and sanded the corners round. looks alot better.I will take a picture and post it. I will however be building a pro- touring '69 nova after this one and will be replicating the optima using referance pics. This, as stated in my first post of this thread is just a fun build. My son is excited about the way it's turning out and at the end it's for him and his brothers to enjoy.
Steven Zimmerman Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 This is just plain BAD !..are you going with a chin spoiler?
71datsun1200 Posted February 11, 2010 Author Posted February 11, 2010 thanks for all the comments guys ! Yes Steve i will be adding a chin spoiler,it just wouldn't be right if i didn't.LOL. I just don't have the time i would like to put into this build. I didn't think when i started this project that i would get so involved in it.So many ideas i get from the pro-touring sites and magazines like popular hotrodding, super chevy and my favorite Camaro Performers, mostly every ride in that mag is a pro touring machine with millions of ideas to apply to all kinds of builds. The fabrication that goes into some of the pro-touring cars is just simply amazing. Again thanks for looking. I will have updates shortly.
MrObsessive Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 (edited) It's nice to see what to me is a bad kit and turning it into something really nice! It's been said before, but Revell missed the boat big time with this one. I was there at the NNL East when Revell had the test shot on the table as I took pics. The rep was there (can't remember his name) and I remember telling him that they still didn't get the car's shape right. He just shrugged his shoulders and said "Oh Well". Well sure enough the kit was released with those same funky proportions I saw on the test shot. My wallet also said "Oh Well" as I wouldn't buy it. Keep up the great work! Hopefully before we're all too old to build, someone will do the 1:1 car justice and kit a state of the art 1970-71 'Cuda! Edited February 11, 2010 by MrObsessive
