Masking fenders?

Recommended Posts

Paint the entire hood the green, let it cure. Then mask off the hood sides for the fender color.

To achieve the subtle curve of the fenders you can use Tamiya masking tape and carefully stretch it in place.

Your first coat of paint on the fenders should be a light coat of the original green, then the black. This way if you

get any bleed-under the green bleeds and not the black.

Alright I'll give it a try! Thanks for the help.

Another little tip when masking compound curves is that you can use a very narrow "fine line" tape that auto painters use to tape off the initial line and then tape the rest of the areas with regular masking tape. The fine line tape is made of vinyl and with it being very thin (narrow in width) it will easily follow curves. Again, as Tim stated spray your primary color first over and tape work to seal the edge of the tape and prevent "bleed under" of any other colors.
