AceofBass Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 (edited) Hey all, I just finished my JACCS Accord about 3 hours ago and the sponsor decals are already beginning to peel. I didn't use the body decals, opting to do my own custom paintwork. I just tried brushing them with a light white glue solution but that just made them wet. What should I do? Also, since the car is assembled and if I should decide to clearcote it, would getting clear on the head and taillights be a no-no? Edited February 3, 2010 by AceofBass
935k3 Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 You need to put the glue under the decal. I have had some issues with Tamiya's newer decals sticking as well. Another trick I like is to but some Future under the decal. It glues them down pretty good and it's thinner than glue. The excess can be cleaned off with ammonia or windex. I would not have any clear parts on a model when clear coating except maybe when using Future it is totally safe for all clear parts.
AceofBass Posted February 4, 2010 Author Posted February 4, 2010 I am new to this. What exactly is Future? I've heard the term thrown around on here a few times.
Sully Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 Check out this link, it will tell you pretty much all about Future........http://www.swannysmodels.com/TheCompleteFuture.html Sully
AceofBass Posted February 5, 2010 Author Posted February 5, 2010 Thats a great article Sully, thanks! I will definitely pick this stuff up next time I build a racer with alot of decals. The article doesn't really say, but can I brush on some Future after the model is complete (paint and decals and assembled)?

The article doesn't really say, but can I brush on some Future after the model is complete (paint and decals and assembled)? It can be wiped on with some practice. I use those round disposable cosmetic pads. I put some in a bowl, dip one in then blot the excess on a paper towel. If you don't like it it can be easily removed with ammonia or windex. The only paints that are affected by ammonia or windex is Tamiya jar acrylics. Future is the absolutely safest clear there is. It now appears as "Pledge with a Future shine" on the label. The future can be protected and enhanced with ZYMOL brand wax. All other waxes I have tried tend to remove the Future when rubbing it out. Edited February 5, 2010 by 935k3
