Hey Guys, I have been tryin' to make some posts with some pics of new resin items and I can't get it done. On photobucket when I mouse over the pics the drop down menu with the links to post the pics here will not pull down. I did notice that where I was using about 1/4 of my bandwidth there, now the meter is showing 0 on the bandwidth ???

I am pretty new at posting the pics through photobucket, just wanted to know if anybody else is having the same kinda problem now, something with photobucket or just my account. Thanks for any input.

Well lets just see if it works. I'm using 14% of my storage and 8% of my band width. Mine seems to work fine. I think what you might be trying to do is post from the area that says recent uploads. It won't work from there. Try going to the left and find your user name and click it. It'll take you to another page or you can go to the top and click albums and it should work from there.

No problems here. You can always click on the picture to get to the links. How much storage have you used?

I think I may have figured it out, still can not get the drop down menu to work on mouse over, but I went in a set it to show the drop down menu all the time and I think that is gona work. Only used about 15%.

i was having problems earlier Eric. pretty much the "mouse over" function wasn't working at all and i couldn't copy pics to post here. i went in and changed my settings to show the links under the pic to always and was then able to copy them but only after clicking each picture to highlight it.

i thought it was just me and mu old junk computer giving me fits, glad to see someone else was having the same issue  hopefully they fix the issue in the next day or so.

Dave

Hey Dave, I had to do the same thing you did, set it to show the menu all th etime, It works that way :D

I haven't changed anything in mine and I have no trouble at all. Drop down window and everything works fine.

I'm having issues to. I can post but its a pain. If I wait for it to say I uploaded successfully it will take forever and I pay for good service. They load fast but photobucket takes forever to return. I cancel the upload and go to the next then the pics show. Really odd but it works

Brian, try using the bulk uploader instead of uploading singles. It's so much faster.

I did that and it said it was loaded ( in the load bar) I waited literally an hour. I hit cancel and back to my home then the folder and it loaded 3 of 6. I've done it on single pics and waited 15 mins and its a 50/50 shot. I just hit cancel go back to the album and head to the next and it catches up with me even though it says 0 of 0 loaded. It's odd

There's nothing wrong with Photobucket, it works fine.

Obviously, if it works fine for most people and some are having a problem, logic will tell you that the problem is not Photobucket, the problem is on your end... most likely you're using an old, outdated web browser that can't display the site correctly or can't handle the new features and functions of the site.

Big sites like Photobucket, ebay, Facebook, Twitter, etc. go through a lot of testing before they go live online. They're not going to put up a site that doesn't work right. 99% of the time when you're having a problem with a website, you can bet the problem isn't the site... it's your old, outdated browser that can't handle the site.

Website technology is constantly changing. If you try to look at a website that has today's features through a web browser that's several years old, the browser can't possibly display the site correctly, because today's websites incorporate features that didn't even exist a few years ago... so an old browser can't possibly work correctly. It's like trying to watch TV on an old black and white set and wondering why you're not seeing any color!

Solution: download and install either the latest updated version of the browser you are using, or install a whole new browser.

Harry i beg to differ i have the latest web browser loaded and i was haveing the same problem . and i would have to click on the picture and the menu shows up on the left hand side .and not all web sites can get there act together as you claim . after several computer problems i have installed a new hard drive and started all over and installed the latest browser and latest anti virus programs . it seems that photo bucket can be hit or miss and i find the best thing to do is just forget about it and go back to it later and what ever problems im haveing will have been fixed by the time i come back to it . I find most of these problems acure mid mornig to mid afternoon seems to be the time they make up grades and repairs .

Check your settings and preferences in Photobucket. There are lots of options they give you... maybe you should try different settings. One of the options is to have the photo's URL links and image code appear right below the photo. That way all you have to do is copy the image code from Photobucket and paste it into your post here.

I've been using Photobucket for YEARS and have never had a problem... I have hundreds of photos in my albums, and have never had any issues, so I have to assume that any problems people are having with Photobucket are problems on their end.

Yep! It's true. Colors right there on the dang TV screen!

You also might want to look into another recent technological advance called "indoor plumbing"... Makes it much easier to use the bathroom during commercials than running out to the backyard john...

Harry, i've been using Photobucket for years too and from my experience the site has ALWAYS had problems of some sort. nothing ever major, but tons of little issues just like the one that started this thread. there are times of the day it seems to be incredibly slow and times that it works incredibly fast. is it my outdated browser? maybe, maybe not.

Dave

Whenever a website works for some people and not for others, I suspect an old browser is the problem... because if the site itself wasn't working, it wouldn't work for anyone.

After all, we are all accessing the same exact website. The difference is the software we're using to access it. There's only one website, only one set of code... and if it works for me, but not for you, I have to think the problem isn't with the website, but with your computer/browser.

A website can seem "slow" sometimes, but that's a function of how you're receiving it. Depends on a lot of variables... your browser, the server, your internet connection, etc. There are many reasons why a site might seem slow at times, but usually the site itself is not the problem. The problem is somewhere in the chain between the site and your computer screen. If the server gets overloaded, for instance, speed goes down.

Then there's the question of how you have your preferences set. Things "popping up" differently for people going to the same site are probably a result of different people having their preferences set differently. Photobucket lets you make the site work in different ways depending on what you yourself specify as your preferences.

A perfect example of what I'm talking about is this site itself. Remember how a lot of people were having all sorts of problems with the site at first? Most of the problems were caused by people using a web browser from 1929. Once they installed a browser that was created in this century the problems disappeared. The site didn't change... the people with the problems changed the way that they were accessing the site.

However, there was (is) a problem here with some of the alternate "skins." I don't know if that's been solved or not. I'm using the default skin (IP Board) and it works perfectly. I haven't gone back and tried any of the others.

I don't know what problems you guys are having with PB, but I've been using the free edition for yrs and I must say I can remember having very few issues w/ it. I do have to agree w/ Harry about the software that's trying to access PB. This happens more often than ppl think or like to admit. I just uploaded 16 36x27 photos using the bulk uploader and it took prob a minute for PB to upload & resize them and change to the edit photo screen. I have seen quite a few ppl complain about sites and model forums that they couldn't do this or that on and it had nothing to do with the site. It was their inability to use the options or their inability to use their computer. One recent one was a guy on another forum complained he couldn't post from Fotki. He insisted it was the sites pro-board format. After several post from me and several members there, I asked him to post a link or pm me a link to his Fotki and I would see what the problem was. Well he discovered that he was trying to post with the wrong IMG codes and this guy kept saying how computer litterate he was.;)

to have a nice new computer with all the newest and best of technology advances would be nice, but i don't have the cash for it.

Dave

I understand that... but web browsers are free!

And remember... a brand-new computer with the latest and greatest operating system won't necessarily solve any website issues. Accessing websites and having them "work" correctly is a function of your web browser, not your computer's operating system.

If it was me, the first thing I'd try is installing a new (or different) browser. Then I'd see if the website behaves differently on my old browser vs. the new one. If that solves your problems, great... and if not, you haven't spent a dime. Just "uninstall" the new browser and you're back exactly where you started from with absolutely no harm done. Or just leave the new browser installed... it won't hurt anything just sitting there.
