Bigjeepzz Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 I started this Wrangler about 4 years ago and just about destroyed it. I pulled it out the other day and figued I would do something with what was left. Here is where I am starting. It is going to end up with coil-over shocks, 4-link rear, 3-link front, and all sorts of other goodies. I chopped all the nonsense I didn't need off the frame and I added the brackets I needed for my control arms. I also fabbed up the shock hoops to accept the coil-over shocks. I got the front suspension fabbed up and glued in place. This build is going to look like it is crawling (articulating suspension). I still need to build the steering box and drag link to finish the front suspension. Once the chassis is built I will start on the body. Thanks for looking. Jake
mikemodeler Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 Another awesome build to follow along with and I can't wait to see it finished! You are a heck of a builder of these crawler Jeeps! Mike Scheve
kod38 Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 I love the articulated look Bro. Great job so far. Doug
Bigjeepzz Posted January 1, 2007 Author Posted January 1, 2007 Thanks Doug and Manny. I got the rear suspension completed tonight. It is starting to come together. I need to finish painting the engine and get it glued in place and the front steering still needs completed. I hope to work on it tommorrow. Hopefully I can finsh the chassis completely and start working on the body. Thanks for looking. Jake
James Flowers Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 That is cool so far. Where did you get the coilovers and the beadlock rims ? Did you make them youself? Looking forward to seeing it finished.
Bigjeepzz Posted January 1, 2007 Author Posted January 1, 2007 I resin cast the beadlocks rims and I make the coil-overs out of aluminum tubing. Thanks for the comments. Jake
Bigjeepzz Posted January 2, 2007 Author Posted January 2, 2007 Well like I stated the chassis is complete, minus the drive shafts. I had to scratchbuild the pitman arm and glue it to the steering box. It actually came out better than I thought it would. I am going to get a chance to work on the body tonight to fix a few mistakes I made in the past. I am hoping to lay some paint on the body tommorrow. We will see how tonight goes. Enjoy the pics. Jake
Bigjeepzz Posted January 2, 2007 Author Posted January 2, 2007 Thanks to Doug, a good friend, I was able to decide what color to paint the Jeep. I got the body painted and I also built the swing-out spare tire carrier. I also got the winch painted and glued up front as well. Hopefully I can get some time to fab up the cage and start wrapping this build up. Only time will tell, thanks for looking. Jake
