JTRACING Posted February 16, 2010 Posted February 16, 2010 In 1990, in pursuit of the elusive Daytona 500 win, the finish line was in sight when Dale Earnhardt suffered a blowout to his right front on the LAST LAP by running over a piece of metal on the track. Luck was not with RCR that day, and this is all the remains of that very tire that cost us the race. It took RCR and dale until 1998 to finally win the Daytona 500!
Mooneyzs Posted February 16, 2010 Posted February 16, 2010 That is so freaking cool. Totally Awesome!!
Railfreak78 Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 One slogan comes to mind: Nascar, How bad do you have it? lol, I love it!
Crusader101 Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 (edited) This is true modeling as well as being too cool.....I remember that race well...and to think the actual blown tire was preserved....you captured it perfectly! Edited February 17, 2010 by Crusader101
beefheart22 Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 LMAO. Memorabilia is memorabilia. Good job on the tire.

diymirage Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 i used to have a 1990 opel E kadett 4 door sedan it came with stock 14 inch steelies on them i had bought a set of 17J8 mille miglias for it but when i installed them i noticed the rear fenders rubber the tires so i had the fenders rolled that only halfway solved the problem, now it only rubber when i wasnt alone in the car or the roads were bad...and i did a lot of two tracking in that car so they often were to fix the issue i ended up getting a set of rear springs from a E kadett station. this lifted the rear end up by about 2.5 inches and gave the car an awesome tilt i was so excited i could finally install my new rims i drove over to the local speedshop where i had all my engine work done and bought the mille miglias (among tons of other stuff) i fired her up, put the handbrake, dropped the clutch and fried the tires...even shifted into 2nd gear i sat there for about 4 minutes untill my front tire blew out it wasnt untill then i actually installed the mille miglias and the front tire that blew was proudly displayed on the wall in my garage this was almost a dedade ago now but your build reminded me of this
