cruz Posted February 16, 2010 Posted February 16, 2010 Found these at one of those Games Workshop stores, they are very good washes, I think better than "The Detailer" ones!! You do have to build them up a bit more but they don't come out as glossy as the ones from The Detailer!! Hosted on Fotki They come in various shades also.......
cruz Posted February 17, 2010 Author Posted February 17, 2010 So they are not as thick as the detailer?? I found this washes to be a lot more thin, you have to build them up a bit in some cases but I prefer them over the Detailer ones. They are also water based so any mistakes could just be washed off if need be.....
outlaw035 Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 ok im alittle confused...where can u buy these...
Longbox55 Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 (edited) ok im alittle confused...where can u buy these... Gamer shops and comic book shops that carry role playing games will usually have them for painting the miniatures used for the games. Hobby shops that carry RPGs will have them, too, usually near the area where they stock the miniatures. I get mine from the local computer/gaming shop. Most of the colors have unusual names, like Orc Purple or Snot Green, but there is a good selection of odd colors that lend themselves nicely to automotive modelling. The are water cleanup, and dry either semi-gloss or dead flat, depending on color. Edited February 18, 2010 by Longbox55
Ragnar Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 You can buy Them at any shop that sells Games Workshop Figures. The names of the Colours come from the Warhammer Fantacy Battles, and Warhammer 40K games. They are sold at Games Workshop Stores, Miniature Wargaming Stores, and Comic Shops that also sell Games Workshop Games and Figures. Some of these same stores also sell Valejo Paints that are the Best Acylic paints available! CHEERS!
brett Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 I also think the skull white is probably the best paint ever for whitewall tyres. Its just off a pure , like a slightly aged white. Washes are brilliant.
Dr. Cranky Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 I've used them too. They are great as part of my weathering arsenal!
whale392 Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 I used to paint figures for AD&D....and these washes were in my paint supplies. At first I didn't like them, as I was used to the Pertha Paints line, but once I got used to their flow characteristics, they were a great addition to my routine and gave some killer effects/results.
Ragnar Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 These aren't the same as the Citadel Ink Washes that were around when Ral Partha went under. These new washes are Acrylics and aren't as intense as the old Inks, also being Acrylic washes You should add a couple drops of matt medium to them to keep the pigments from seperating. I use Citadel Paints all the time to paint Fantacy Wargamming Figures. Yes Skull white is good for painting white sidewalls. These paints are also great for painting interiors, and they have some very good colours for painting leather, and wood grain. Don't paint out of the jar as these paints will dry out on you if you do, and add a few drops of distilled water to them every time you use them. Always use a Pallet when painting, so that you don't ruin a bottle of paint, also using a pallet when brush painting gives you better control of how much paint you load into your brush! CHEERS!
whale392 Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 Tom, you say these aren't forumlated like the ones from the late '90s to early 2000s? Looks like I had better get down to a gamer store and check these out then (great, now I have an excuse to rediscover yet another of my old hobbies!).
Ragnar Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 I'm still wargammming, painting figures, building Military vehicles, and building model cars.I spend a lot of time on hobbies, because I'm retired and have limited mobility! CHEERS!
whale392 Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 Tom, I am a full time employee, full time college student, have 4 1:1 project cars I am working on, 2 1:1 motorcycles, and I work on friends cars on the side. Add to that scale autos, scale aircraft (mostly birds I worked on in the Navy/civilian field), and model railroading (1:87th scale)...my plate is terribly full! Not to mention my house and the biddings of the girlfriend.......only saving grace is I am 34, still young.
