LDO Posted February 21, 2010 Author Posted February 21, 2010 I forgot my camera. You guys who went- did you see the black 1/10 chopper? The registration slip said it was scratchbuilt. He even went into detail about how he did it. The tires are "vacuformed rubber". Really? His vacuformer works with rubber, engraves crisp tread, AND puts in a mold parting line right down the center? That thing was a diecast that had been partially stripped and repainted. They should have booted that guy out of there. There was a 1/12 scale Aston Martin race car, but the finish was poor on it. Seemed like a light turnout this year.
Ben Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 I didn't see those. How did you like the huge pink submarine from that movie (I forget the name) It took some guts to paint a big expensive model that way! LOL The large scale NSX was nice. A couple of my friends that were in the sellers area told me to check out the scratch built Tioga RV being that i'm an Rv technician of over 15 years and a model builder. It was nice, could be better with some simple changes such as having proper decals made rather than what appeared to be stickers or maybe paper glued on? I was impressed that the builder took the time to make the chassis look correct on it though! There were some nice dioramas there as well!
Len Woodruff Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 I missed all of you guys! I was there all day. I am uploading the Automotive Pics and will post them later this morning.
LDO Posted February 21, 2010 Author Posted February 21, 2010 We oughta get name tags for going to shows. We might have bumped into each other at the swap meet and never known it. I didn't get any cars at the swap meet; just airplanes. I got a 1/48 Kopro Su-7 and a pair of 1/72 racers from High planes; "Mr Awesome" Yak-11 with T-33 tail and "Critical Mass", the 4360-powered Sea Fury. I also got a lot of old backissues of Fine Scale Modeler and Scale Auto Enthusiast.
