lowriderphil Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 So when I was 2 I destroyed a couple of my father's models. I have since replaced them all with new builds except for one. It was a challenger funny car but he cannot remember if it was call the ham town hemi or the hampton hemi. Do these names ring a bell to anyone? I'd like to try a build this one to finally finish out the line. He still has the original but now it is solid white with a black top. he did the best he could to piece it back together but it just looks sad. phil
Fuel Coupe Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 The car you are looking for is called the hamtown hemi that was put out by AMT. Long gone and somewhat desirable today. with a bit of luck you can locate a Johan Challanger (RAM-ROD) funny car and keep an eye on eBay for the decals from seller smracecars2009 and you can put this one back together for dad.
LoneWolf15 Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 What about the recent release from Model King ? It should be close to what you are looking for .
Fuel Coupe Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 What about the recent release from Model King ? It should be close to what you are looking for . True but if wants to replicate it correctly the Johan kit and the hamtown were the same....
lowriderphil Posted February 23, 2010 Author Posted February 23, 2010 Thanks for the help guys. I had seen an original sealed kit a few years ago at the mid atlantic nnl. The guy was asking $300, but the box looked like someone had played hockey with it ala the begining of ace ventura: pet detective. I wasn't about to shell out that kind of cash and take a chance. He kept saying to me "its still sealed though".
lowriderphil Posted February 23, 2010 Author Posted February 23, 2010 Will any of these work? http://cgi.ebay.com/AMT-ERTL-Model-Kit-21796P-DODGE-CHALLENGER-FUNNY-CAR_W0QQitemZ370338772815QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item5639e9374f http://cgi.ebay.com/GENE-SNOW-RAMBUNCTIOUS-CHALLENGER-F-C-JO-HAN-MODEL-BOX_W0QQitemZ380209009965QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item588639152d http://cgi.ebay.com/1972-Dodge-Hemi-Challenger-1-25-kit-Vintage-MIB-Mopar_W0QQitemZ140385440602QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item20af9fd35a http://cgi.ebay.com/JO-HAN-70-442-70-CHALLENGER-FUNNY-CAR_W0QQitemZ220560493450QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item335a6e0b8a http://cgi.ebay.com/Rare-Jo-Han-Challenger-Funny-Car-1-25th-Scale_W0QQitemZ150416776900QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item230589dec4
Fuel Coupe Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 (edited) Phil, The Johan kits are what you are looking for. However the $50 tag on them is a bit much. The Green Model King kit you posted is close but when put side by side you will see they are totally different. The Johan and the AMT hamtown were the same kit and the molds were shared between the two company's. The Rambunctious kit you posted will work but that particular auction is for the box only. the olds and Ram-Rad you posted would be a good deal if you want the olds too or it could make some good trade stock The palmer kit wont work.. $300 is outrageous. Keep looking you can get them WAY CHEAPER!!! Keep watching the Bay as there is one that ended for $10. Most times they will end around $35. If you want pics to see the differences in the two kits I'll be glad to post them... Edited February 23, 2010 by TxRat
