falcongeorge Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 Found these pics on truckmodeler.com. Does anyone know how this guy did the chains on the chain drive? Is the builder lurking here? I have been wanting to do a tandem axle chain drive Sterling for a long time, the chains have had me stymied...
Old Albion Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 George, I don't remember seeing that chain drive on the old Truckmodeler web site. I have seen one or two chain drive systems used on model trucks. Lance Gregory used a small drive chain to operate the mixer drum on his DM800. To the best of my knowledge the type of chain required is an Instrument Chain (used on precision instrumentation). I found one company in New York which supplies tiny instrumentation chains. The company name is Stock Drive Products/Sterling Instruments. http://www.sdp-si.com/ Sorry I can't be any more help. Dave
Tony Bryan Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 That looks like Lego chain to me out of the technics kits, you can get from ebay, search lego, chain, technics, I brought 200 links for the drive on my crane, NCK andes, chain look exactly the same, will take a pic and post it so you can see Dave, never thought of the instrument supplies, great tip Thanks bit like using old clock cogs for rivet spacing
