Mike W. Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 I'm planning my next project and need some help identifying this truck: http://www.wipp.energy.gov/Photo_Gallery_Images/Transportation_photos/Truck2.jpg I doubt that it's available in kit form so I'm looking for any pointers on what kit to start with and if there's a conversion available. I'll also be scratchbuilding the trailer and Trupact II containers, so if anyone knows of a good source of photos or drawings, I'd appreciate it. I almost wore out Google looking for references but didn't come up with much. Thanks, Mike

chuckyr Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 (edited) It is simply a Kenworth T 800 Aero Cab, around 2000 to 2003 vintage. A fantastic modeler from Montréal called Plaskit offers excellent cabs and accessories that can replicate this tractor using Revell of Germany or AMT base Kenworth kits. http://s429.photobucket.com/albums/qq13/danielgailloux/Plaskit_truck_conversion/ Edited March 3, 2010 by chuckyr
monkeyclaw Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 You can get the T800 bonnet from plaskit....very nice; and you can get the cab/sleeper from PORKY right here on this group........matt
Porky Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 Hey Mike Matt is right, I can hook you up with the aero / studio sleeper cab for the build. Cab comes with floorpan, updated dash, steering wheel assembly for 45.00 or 50.00 with 2 step boxes. The 900L hood in the pics is not included for that price, but that hood conversion is offered for 40.00 Just let me know if I can help you out with one or anything else
Mike W. Posted March 4, 2010 Author Posted March 4, 2010 (edited) Thanks for the help guys. I'm completely new to trucks & truck modeling so please bear with me as I try to get things right. I'm definitely going to get both resin sets but I'm not sure which kit I should start with. I'd prefer a Revell kit as I hear they're more detailed. Mike Edited March 4, 2010 by Mike W.

Mike If you can locate an AMT T600 cab, that would be the appropriate starting point for your subject. The Revell kits are superior as far as detail is concerned, but the AMT T600 has the correct cab (notice the one piece windshield) albeit, lower quality casting and details as compared to the Revell T600 cabs.
