Clay Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 My father-in-law got this in a trade and he said I could have it if I wanted it, so naturally I said yes. It's a 1986 Honda Rebel, not much but the perfect starter bike.
george 53 Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 Cool Clay, how many CC's is it? Got a closer pic of it? Could you be the NEW "Easy Rider"??
jeffb Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 the rebel is a great starter bike. but whats the story with the dune buggy???
Clay Posted March 4, 2010 Author Posted March 4, 2010 No George, No other pictures, trying to get some. It is still down at their house. Jeff, he has a few of them actually.
george 53 Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 Looks real nice,Clay.I LIKE the color. Will Ani ride on it with you? Theresa's ALWAYS been afraid of bikes, she wouldn't even let my look at them! I was lookin at a Harley 883 once caz it's not TOO heavy, but she shot THAT idea down right quick. "I DON'T want to be a widow" she'd say. Oh Well. Hope you enjoy yer new putt!!!
Clay Posted March 4, 2010 Author Posted March 4, 2010 I had to agree that this is only for to and from work.
Raul_Perez Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 I sold my Goldwing a few months ago. With my mother-in-law now being disabled, my wife spends a lot of time with her on weekends, so we didn't get much time to ride the bike. I used the $$ to buy my wife a new ride. It's an '09 Toyota Venza. She likes it beause her mom can get in it pretty easily and there's room in the back for the wheelchair.

Railfreak78 Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 My project bike is a 80 Yamaha Maxim XJ650 and it's about the same size. These older bikes are awesome for learning (Hopefully I'll know soon) Anyway keep up maintenance on your chain and be careful of your coil packs. If you snap a wire going to the spark plugs they are hard to fins used and pricey new.

It's a 1986 Honda Rebel, not much but the perfect starter bike. if its a starter bike you want check out my ride i call it the weedwacker (sadly, my actualy weedwacker has just as big an engine) its a 1988 yamaha DT50 liquid cooled it comes with a 6 speed tranny and will do 45 fairly easy as for the honda...it remind me of a 75 yamaha RD250 i used to have it was the only bike i had ever seen with the twin barrels side by side rather then in a V shape (but so does yours) Looks real nice,Clay.I LIKE the color. Oh Well. Hope you enjoy yer new putt!!! i know how that feels it took me about 8 years to convice my wife to let me buy another bike after i did this to the last one i was doing about 55 on my way to work (i got pulled over the day before and the cops forbade me to ride my car untill i got some stuffed fixed) so i was accelarating out of a curve when i came to a blind intersection there was a street crossing the road i was on and both sides had yeild signs i guess the guy driving his VW transporter (you guys call it a eurovan) didnt see me so he didnt yield my bike hit his front fender so hard the cops later showed me thier scene pictures with my bike standing upright in his fender i myself got launched over the hood (took out the drivers side A pillar on my way) and flew for about 20 feet or so before i landed on the tarmac took me two days to wake up from that one even with my helmet on i still broke my skull in 3 different places and i snapped my femur in half wanst untill about 6 months later that i could actually walk without crutches again. so clay, enjoy the new ride
Clay Posted March 5, 2010 Author Posted March 5, 2010 Thanks Eelco, you are making me feel so good about having a bike now.....
george 53 Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 Clay, my brother, YOU gotta watch for the OTHER guy, caz THEY sure a heck AIN'T gonna watch out for you! That's why Theresa Don't like bikes. Some lady ran a stop sign and hit me an my buddy on his bike! I got pretty banged up, but didn't break anything. Tha old lady said she never even saw us, which was kinda a dumb reason for runnun a STOP sign!
diymirage Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 Thanks Eelco, you are making me feel so good about having a bike now..... like george said, you just gotta watch out when riding a bike being seen is job number one
