Carl I'm going to keep the bumpers and have a buddy shoot them with alclad. Very sad to see that Spirit in such bad shape. i LOVE that wagon! I absolutely LOVE lifted ( not Donk ) cars!. I'd buy that in a Heartbeat if I could. I used to see a 72 Chevelle, 68 Mustang, and a 72 Caddy Hearse around here.

Not sure If I'll be able to do that as it might be out of my skill level........... ;):P:lol::lol:

Cool Batmobile Marty and Toby says bout time you got back to your skill level with the snap kits so, since the level 2 kits are challenging for you, you should give them to him

I use a 50/50 mix of one full bottle of Dot3 brake fluid and a equal size bottle of Purple Power brand degreaser. A picture of my tank is in the general section. mt Caprice should be coming out of it today.

Thankx for the tip... how long of a soak? will too long cause damage?

Here is what she looked like after she went swimming. This paint was horrible thick and some actually did not come off. Time for some body work now. I'm also stripping the chrome in bleach white. That came up pretty clean Brian, I've seen much worse with less paint. Have you deceided how your going to build it yet? I've got a '76 Caprice that'll be a firecheifs car soon as I get to it.

I'm still not sure which way I want to go. I'm kinda torn between stock and I'm leaning toward Resto-mod. I don't want to go Pro touring on this one. I'm also thinking maybe a 2 tone silver I'm not sure. That Fire chief idea is really cool!

So I've owned a lot of cars that have had dash mats and matching deck lid mats so with that in mind here is the interior done. I like the way this turned out. I need to get some trimming doen cause the camera catches more than the eye does. Enjoy! doneint2.jpgdaoneintdash.jpgdoneint3.jpgdoneint4.jpgdoneint.jpg

Hey Brian!

Cool Build, looks like you will be busy.

I got a '76 on the list, not sure how I want to go with it, low rider or Impala conversion? B)

I will be watching to see what you do.

Thanks for sharing!

So I tried something today I scratch built my very 1st seat belts. Also picked the wheels out of the bin and no this is not the color scheme but it will be 2 tone. I was really irritated with the look of the belts and the camera does not show depth. It really looks good to the eye and I'm actually happy now. What do you think?. I like the paint scheme, but I'm not too sure about those wheels. ;)

So the last pics were a two tone primer. Today she got actual paint. I screwed up bad. I tried to use the last of a cheap black and it really messed up the car. There is chunks and spots everywhere. Time to wet sand her and try again when I get paid. I like the 2 tone idea and the wheels as it kind of leans to Resto-Mod theme. Here is the paint I'm not happy with at B) all (forgive the trim line for I'm going to BMF it hopefully). DSC02129.jpgDSC02131.jpgDSC02132.jpgDSC02133.jpgDSC02134.jpgDSC02136.jpg

Hey Brian, I like your color combination. I learned to never try to use the last bit from a spray can except on small parts. When the can gets near empty I just throw it away. Don't give up.

Thanks bud about the colors. I won't do that again for sure. I'll get the new pics up later as I want to run a new wheel idea by you guys. With the resto-mod or pro touring or whatever it's hard with wheels. I don't want Donk or low rider just bigger. I think I found some and will work with the paint. pics soon

Ok so now she has been re-painted and now wears a triple black hand brushed with Future. I was really happy with the shine but all the bubbles did not level and you can see them on the black. I heard you can use windex to rub it out and re-apply Future? I do not own an air brush so any ideas would be appreciated. I'm not done with the wheels yet but gives an idea on the direction i'm going. With this paint job I'm almost thinking of color coded bumpers hmm... I'm really happy with the fixed area I cut out though. Enjoy! startbodydamage.jpgAFfixeddamage2.jpgAFfixeddamage.jpgAFengineprop.jpgAFafterfuture.jpgAFafterfuterear.jpg

OK so here is an update... This is only one wheel after paint. This is my first ever valve stem. I do like it but needs more work. I also did more engine work. Enjoy! DSC02326.jpgDSC02327.jpgDSC02329.jpgDSC02330.jpg

Thanks for the comments and compliments guys. It means a lot on this one. I did a lot of body work to make this look good and after painting it black on top of the body work I felt really happy. It was odd though. I did a lot of work and a lot of first time stuff like the seat belts and then I was in a "funk" I did not want to build the engine or engine compartment. Then today's mishap in which was an accident I feel like putting this in a box. Anyone get that it's going smooth and I better stop now syndrome? Oh well my club meet is soon and this is my car so I gotta hope for the best. I think my engine pulled me out of my "funk. Oh and the spark plug boots are insulation from phone wire wrapped over fake flower hobby wire.
