69_charger Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 Well, im new here, and this is, in my books a good build, so I figured id show some wips… now, let me tell you a bit about me first, my name is Brett, im 13, and please, don’t go easy on me, as I learn from smarter peoples criticism. Anyway, this started out as an outt’a the box build, but I figured if I was going to be making the drag edition, I needed something coming out of the hood, so I mounted a blower from my 70 Chevelle SS from Revell… and the belt is from some tamiya line tape, and I made it stick over the existing belts using some sprues… This interior was going fine, but then I decided to use a knife, and cut out the seats… bad Idea, I glued it back in, and went to bed. I couldn’t find it the next day (darn living carpet and work bench ) so, I started to cut and hack at some sprues, and found a roll cage from a 69 charger, with a fire extinguisher already molded into it, (but I have another one im going to put on the drive shaft tunnel, if that’s what it is called) and I think the tunnel came from a torino, as did the dashboard, whch I thought looked more racing like, it’s the unpainted one, and im using the painted steering wheel. Thanks for looking, Brett
Railfreak78 Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 Nice build so far the gold and the style of builds make the Stang look sharp.
randx0 Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 I like what you are doing with this build.looking at your work area you have obviously built a few models previously.Bluesman Mark offered some good ,sound advice I think for this build in particular you should keep adding things that you like, I think the 1/24th scale blower looks great when the hood is on makes it look mean .the paint job is great too.just keep going with what you like and when you are done you can be critical of your work.because sometimes you don't always learn why something doesn't work if you don't have first hand experience.now that being said I think you are doing a great job using what you have and you will learn a lot from that . It is really hard to just build them straight out of the box when there are all those extra pieces just laying around .Have fun have fun have fun have fun have fun.
pharr7226 Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 Brett, you're doing some very nice work and showing some good skill. I got out of the hobby when I was a couple of years older than you because I could not make my paint look like the box art. I knew nothing about spray techniques or color sanding back then. I applaud your creativity and your skill. Stay with it and keep sharing your progress.
Farmboy Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 (edited) Wish I had had the talent to do that kind of stuff at 13.Good goin' kid! Edited March 15, 2010 by Farmboy
69_charger Posted March 16, 2010 Author Posted March 16, 2010 thank you all for your kind replies! Bluesman Mark, thank you for all the info, and encouragment (that goes for everyone) i dont have any other blowers, or anything of the type, so thats going to be the one, and im not sure if the rims are from that kit, or a nother, as i have 12 of them..... i am also not using the stock intirior tub, si i have some door panels (from the torino again ) and ill be gluing thm to the side of the car, and i will put some filler around it, if it needs it, also, becasue im not suing the tub, the torino dash is also staying. it fits relitivley well around it, but im still making sure of it, and i have reshaped the tunnel. also, Randx0, i am having a ton of fun
