larman Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 Here is my latest WIP, I am working on a '69 Super Bee, but stuff is drying on that so I turned my attention to this craziness! Last summer I picked up a built up '70 Rebel for $2.50 at a local flea market. I was going to restore it stock, but as it turns out it was a complete junker once I got it apart and stripped. I had this old Johan funny car chassis and blown AMC engine, so I figure why not make it a funny? I started the body this weekend. I fixed the holes in the hood, repaired the glue marks in the roof, filled in the gas cap,and removed the tail light panel because it was screwed up.I also fixed the driver side post which was all bent up. Once all that was done, I started the funny car process: removed the vent windows, opened up the rear wheel wells, moved the front ones forward, and filled in the remains of the door handles. There is a lot of body work to do yet, but this is a good start, I was inspired by the Grant Rebel SST F/C, but I know there never really was a '70 Rebel F/C (to my knowledge anyway). I am leaving the panel lines, because the Grant car has them and I want this to seem as real as possible. At this point I am leaning toward the typical red, white and blue paint scheme that nearly all AMC race cars had with the nose red a diagonal white middle section and a blue tail section, but I am not totally sure about that yet. Thanks for looking! -Larman
Dragline Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 This is going to be an interesting build. Looks to me like you have most of the parts you'll need. I'll be watching what is already a good start. Bob

vintagercr Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 That is going to be really neat. Can't wait to see the built up.
