diymirage Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 hey guys after my big adventure with the lowrider im starting a mostly OOB build for my son this will be a 1971 dodge charger painted the same lime green that his uncle painted the shelf it will be on in his room im planning on keeping the 440 magnum (started building it today) and short of (maybe) a set of rims the only custom feature will be a PSV oostfront scarf proudly portrayed in the rear shelf (if i can ever find a decen image of it) im expecting to get this done pretty fast due to the low low level of customizing involved will ad pictures tomorow of the engine and whatever else i get done
diymirage Posted April 1, 2010 Author Posted April 1, 2010 Sounds neat. What is an "PSV oostfront scarf?" PSV is the name of a soccer team, it stands for Phillips Sport Vereniging and they hail from a city in the Netherlands called Eindhoven. i grew up about 25 miles south of there and whatever college education i got i got in Eindhoven. oostfront means eastern front and it is a nick name for the supporters group that always sat on the east side of the stadium and i considered a hooligan group. ive been a fan of the team all my life though i never had any connections with the hooligans ive had that scarf in the rear window of every 1:1 car i have had im thinking the only way to reproduce it i to take a picture of it, scan it and turn it into a decal
diymirage Posted April 3, 2010 Author Posted April 3, 2010 got a little bit of work done on the 440 i scratchbuild the dizzy and wired the coil other then that it will be OOB (still need to ad the fan, starter and oil filter, maybe even the heat riser tube) i also got some paint down on the body it hurts a little at first glance but i think the body of the charger is strong enough to pull it off (almost ugly enough to be a true high impact dodge colour) as you can tell the hood decal is missing it was the first one i tried to put on and i didnt even think to check if they cut out the center section for the louvers well, it turned out they didnt (which really surprised me because they cut out the center of the air filter decal) so when i tried to cut it out myself it broke (i placed a post in the wanted section for a replacement)
RodneyBad Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 My Eyes My Eyes Kidding. Paint looks good. Engine looks good too. Nice work soo far. You might need some decal setting solutions to get them to confirm a bit better.
diymirage Posted April 4, 2010 Author Posted April 4, 2010 im hoping the clear coat will help them set they arent all that bad, its just on the passenger side front fender where the two sligtly overlap that it looks off
diymirage Posted April 10, 2010 Author Posted April 10, 2010 got enough work done on the car to do some mock up shots the motor is close to done and all the interior needs is a steering wheel and the scarf for the back i also got a chance to do a mock up of the body and frame the front end sits a little higher then it will when done
nails3825 Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 Looking good! That's a great color for the car... I think it would look good in any color really, but that's just me
diymirage Posted April 10, 2010 Author Posted April 10, 2010 Looking good! That's a great color for the car... I think it would look good in any color really, but that's just me thanks you know, i wasnt to sure about it when i first started but i think it looks very nice once i got used to it specially with the white/green interior
diymirage Posted April 17, 2010 Author Posted April 17, 2010 got the body installed today still have some details left to do, mainly in the engine bay but this is the way she will sit (i decided to ad the redline tires to flow with the red trim in the grill (in case any of you guys are wondering if you can hand paint that on, say, a superbee)
jedimastergary Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 Looks good the color is good on it loocs like a factory color nice details to
diymirage Posted April 17, 2010 Author Posted April 17, 2010 thanks this is the first time i used a black wash on the ralleys and im quite pleased with the way it worked out wasnt sure about the red trim around the grille/headlight area but i think the redline wheels pull it all together i didnt end up putting the scarf in the back since i couldnt find a decent picture online and i couldnt be bothered to pull my own out of the 'ssat
