kingpa Posted April 3, 2010 Posted April 3, 2010 hey an new but i need some help i got a 62 buick electra for some reason the paint dont want to stick to the hood. just on the pointed areas. am using auto paint dupli-color. i never had a problem like this before. i put the first coat let it dry and repeated the steps theres like 3 coats and still can cover that area. hope you guys can help me out
RodneyBad Posted April 3, 2010 Posted April 3, 2010 It looks like you sprayed it on to heavy. Try A light (mist)coat of paint. (15 mini wait) A Medium coat (another 15min wait) then a heavier (cover)coat should work.
weasel Posted April 3, 2010 Posted April 3, 2010 ya need to use a white primer instead of the grey the yellow will cover better with less paint.. and yeah, a little heavy as it's 'pulling away' from high spots/seams
kustomkat1 Posted April 3, 2010 Posted April 3, 2010 YEP what Weasel said, white primer. The paint is running away from the raised edges cuz of the grey primer. Use the Dupli-color or Plasti-kote white primer. Hope this helps Todd
vaughn Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 Wow !!!Something went wrong somewhere for paint not to adhere to plastic after 3 tries. And just the hood ? Need to retrace something here. What about the body ? did you use the same technique on both ? The answer could be very simple....not technical.
