DanielG Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 (edited) The basis, a crappy pajero. First, tear it apart! The so called 'engine', not suitable for post-apoc lifestyle! Old Buick Fireball 8, more suited to low-tech post-apoc. Does it fit? No, but it will! Edited April 9, 2010 by DanielG
jedimastergary Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 wild looks like it will be one great Apocolyptic vehicle when done will be watching this build. just saw Death Race last night so got few new ideas of what these vehicles should look like. and now I see this one makes me think about a new idea for my scout that I built a few years ago and was modifying to this style.
Railfreak78 Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 That truck didn't look to bad minus the molded engine area. It will be cool to see though and I hope you have as much fun on this venture as us in the Apoc Thread have.
DanielG Posted April 8, 2010 Author Posted April 8, 2010 (edited) The model engineering is terrible and the detail (example: engine) also sucks which is why it is cheap so I had no qualms about bashing it! Nothing is finalized yet but I am thinking along the lines of a .50 Browning on a ring mount and some more chopping and added 'armour' panels. (I am only doing this for something to do while the paint on the 'El Camino' cures!) Edited April 8, 2010 by DanielG
RodneyBad Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 Looks like another cool and Very interesting build. I assume this is 1/18 scale also?
DanielG Posted April 8, 2010 Author Posted April 8, 2010 Roger that, 1/18. I have a 1/24 jeep (plastic) that I was going to scavenge for odds-n-ends but could not find a suitable vehicle in 1/24 to build.
DanielG Posted April 9, 2010 Author Posted April 9, 2010 (edited) Spent time on the inter-web getting interior and undercarriage pics. Managed, I think, to re-engineer the body to allow easier construction by cutting out the bottoms of the doors and making them one piece (like they should have been from the start!). The engine and radiator will fit with a bit of lengthening. Now to search out some pics of the Buick engine. Edited April 9, 2010 by DanielG
DanielG Posted April 10, 2010 Author Posted April 10, 2010 Since the engine will be more or less visible, I thought that I had better add a few of the more obvious details.
DanielG Posted April 11, 2010 Author Posted April 11, 2010 Not much got done today, just the passenger door panel.
Edward Gore Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 wow, this is going to be super detailed ... cool
jedimastergary Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 Looks like a great start to a cool build I hope my builds come out half as good as yyours is so far looks like a lot of detail will be in this one
DanielG Posted April 13, 2010 Author Posted April 13, 2010 (edited) See, I told you it would fit! Now, I don't want anyone asking how they managed to get the clutch and transmission and transfercase all mated because I have no idea. Sometimes you just have to take things on faith! Away for a week so no posts for a while. Edited April 13, 2010 by DanielG
DanielG Posted April 29, 2010 Author Posted April 29, 2010 Well I finally managed to get some 'work' done today. Put in a firewall and a bit of detail added to the engine bay. I am adding some spring/shocks in the cut-outs. There will be a stiffener that arcs over the engine between the towers so no hood.
RodneyBad Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 See, I told you it would fit! Now, I don't want anyone asking how they managed to get the clutch and transmission and transfercase all mated because I have no idea. Sometimes you just have to take things on faith! A bigger hammer could solve those problems Engine is looking great. Nice Firewall.
jedimastergary Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 Looks good nice firewall use a big hammer and a pry bar and things will fit in
DanielG Posted April 30, 2010 Author Posted April 30, 2010 Had to go to the dentist today so not much done. Added some 'iron' and the shock towers. Hope to get the shocks made and mounted tomorrow.
DanielG Posted May 1, 2010 Author Posted May 1, 2010 Shocks put together and ready to install (after paint) and some more work done on the front-end. Also, threw some primer and paint around!
jedimastergary Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 Looks like it is going to be wild when finished nice detail work on it so far
DanielG Posted May 2, 2010 Author Posted May 2, 2010 Thanks, Gary and Blake, just enough detail to make it interesting to do (and look at) without going too crazy! I got the shocks painted and installed today and sprayed some more 'rust' around.
DanielG Posted May 12, 2010 Author Posted May 12, 2010 I was able to get back to this for a bit. Detailed a rad and some of the front armour and supports. Some test fitting:
jedimastergary Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 Looks wild and it will be one good wateland cruiser when done
DanielG Posted May 12, 2010 Author Posted May 12, 2010 Looks wild and it will be one good wateland cruiser when done "when done", oh man, does that mean that I am expected to finish it? Sometime? Maybe? yuk ,yuk!
jedimastergary Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 Well maybe I dont know I guesse you should finish it just like i should finish my 53 Death Wrecker and my 58 plymouth and a million other projsects I hae going
