Wheels Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 AMT's '61 Ford Ranchero kit. I have lowered both the front and rear. Then added custom wheels and tires from Revell's '67 Chevelle kit. It will get a two-tone paint job of grape and silver. The front and rear bumpers will be painted silver also. The interior will be purple and silver. There is also a resin hood from Drag City Casting. Hosted on Fotki
James Flowers Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 Sounds like a nice color choice. I always liked these Ranchero's.

Wheels Posted April 12, 2010 Author Posted April 12, 2010 I did some painting over the weekend and here is what I have so far. Tell what you think. It's grape over silver two-tone. What's the best way to clean up the line between the two colors? Should I clear coat first or what? Just looking for some advice. Thanks. Hosted on Fotki
whale392 Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 The seperation line looks pretty clean to me. I don't see what clean-up at the color split line you would need to do. The Purple.........I hope the camera and or my moniter make it look that way; it looks Lavander in the pics.
Wheels Posted April 22, 2010 Author Posted April 22, 2010 Here is the Ranchero outside. The grape enamel looks darker than my previous photo. Hoping to finish the interior this weekend. Hosted on Fotki
oversteer Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 I'm not one to give advice but I have an idea. What if you hand painted a pinstripe on the seperation line?Blue
whale392 Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 It looks killer in the sun! I have no doubt it will be spectacular when finished. oversteer has a good idea, and I hope he allows me to expand on it some. A very vivid (electric) blue stripe seperating just the top split might bring both colors to life and add a little more visual 'pop' to the overall scheme.
