lanesteele240 Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 here is my new project. has got to be the hardest body to buff out any paint goof ups. there is a vent or wing on every square inch. i used a bridal veil to mimic carbon fiber on the under carriage(let me know if you know of any other mesh that has a tighter pattern). i put down a coat of silver and then used the lace method with the brides veil. i sprayed on some simigloss black. i then removed the lace and then toned down the silver with some light coats of the black. i then cleared with floor wax and then some dupicolor clear. those p/e brake rotors were a butt. around 4 hours to assemble. will be back soon with picks of the painted body and buffed under carriage. hu-hu, i said buffed under carriage
lanesteele240 Posted April 18, 2010 Author Posted April 18, 2010 any body know where i can get a veil to replace the one that used. i use the one i found in the wife's closet that might have not been such a good idea!

lanesteele240 Posted April 28, 2010 Author Posted April 28, 2010 hello here are the results of this weekends work. here is the final paint on the body. some polishing is needed and some touch-up under the finders. the windows also needs trim paint. i stripped the chrome off of the rims and painted them with alcad dull stainless. i used the stincle that came with the P/E kit to paint in the bridgestone . man that thing works great. i made it so i could remove the wheels to view the breaks. (Always wanted a kit that i could remove the wheels). i have some 1/8 rod that will go in the holes of the rims into the holes in the rotors. the 1/8 rods will be capped with the wheel lugs. new picks coming soon of how that comes out.
Guest old man Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 Looking good thus far. I like what you did with the wheels, and the brakes are a nice touch. nice job on all the detail work
jbwelda Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 thats looking great and nice job on the decals and paint! that tamiya decal that goes into the vent looks like it might have been a bear. removable wheels are going to be a nice touch too, maybe get some jackstands to stand the car on with them off.
MyBradKeselowski Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 That looks great!!! I like the detailed brake rotors
