B_A_R Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 I thought this would make a challenging subject. Anyone know the maker?
Jim B Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 Well, that's different! Where did you get the picture? Jim
B_A_R Posted January 16, 2007 Author Posted January 16, 2007 Don't remember exactly, maybe a railroad forum. There are a lot of resources available on the web but this was an oddball find, for sure.
Guest zebm1 Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 I'll bet that's a one-off involved in tha logging industry. Kinda like a cheap way to avoid tha high cost of a diesel-fueled switch engine. Looks like it has a steam engine dual-axle bogie up front and is that an air tank behind tha cab. Looks like tha coupler assembly has been scratched to tha frame. I also wonder how long those cast-iron brake drums are gonna last?
Jairus Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 B_A_R, One of the very few rules we have here at MCM Online forum is that you must register to post messages. If you register using a "handle" or an "alias" (like B_A_R), you MUST place your REAL NAME (at least first and last name) in the "signature" below each message. The signature text block is found in your profile section of this board. If you chose not to display your real name in your signature, you will receive a warning which, if ignored, will result in removal of posting privileges. Sorry, but thems the rules.... er' rule. Whatever... Thank you!
mackinac359 Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 Does anyone know who/where the trucks (wheels) could be purchased in G (Garden) scale? A Peterbilt railer would be most interesting ! Tim
camaroman Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 Tim, I would check out Trainworld in Brooklyn for those trucks in G scale or the Bachmann website. Best way to find both of them is google.
Guest zebm1 Posted January 27, 2007 Posted January 27, 2007 Ran into a Canadien modeler in PSAB last nite and invited him to join our happy little group. This Hi-rail truck has him salivating. Did I mention that he is also into model trains, RC cars and military. His nic is Derailed and he also thinks that this truck is a one-off. He's hoping that sumone has more pics. I figured he might be able to help yall finger out this rig, have fun yall. Zeb
SpreadAxle Posted February 3, 2007 Posted February 3, 2007 the truck is a Freightliner, and judging from the colors it was once owned by IWX, but not sure. It's a Classic, with set back front axle, and 112" bbc I believe. i never thought I would see a truck used this way, but that is cool.
SpreadAxle Posted February 3, 2007 Posted February 3, 2007 Interesting too see how long this truck will take the abuse of being a locomotive, but it sure is different
