I got back into building model cars in Nov. 2008 when I was unpacking some boxes in my garage and found my models and I got the bug to start building again.

I join a GREAT model car club here in Phoenix Moonlight Modelers thanks to Dan Baker's reply to me looking for a club here.

Anyways the reason for this post was to show what kits I had when I got back into the hobby and what I now have and it hasn't been that long!!

These are the kits that I unpacked.

And this is what I now have. B)

And I'm still adding to it!!!!!!!!!

I can relate,I've been modeling just about a year and I have roughly 150 kits, not to mention all the paints, glues, tools and assesories.

The crazy thing is I'm at the point where I'm second guessing this hobby and can't help to think what I couldve done with the money I spent on building.

well, if you really are having doubt why not pack it all up and send it to a fellow modeler who is still fully engaged and short on cash....maybe a father of one and sole provider for a family of three ?

why dont i shoot you a PM with my address so you can sent some kits my way ?

(anything mopar and specifically prostreet would be awesome)

Got back in when my oldest boy got a couple of kits as gifts (birthday, Christmas etc).

Bought a few clearanced at Wally World.

I estimate I have about 600 now. Many are duplicates for parts.

To paraphrase George S. Patton, "Man, I like this stuff, God help me I Like It!"

I got back into building around 2003. When I stopped by my folks place to see if my old builds were still there, I was greeted with some mixed news. The good news was that they still had about 30-35 of the kits that I built before 1987. The bad news was that they looked as though they had all been caaaarefully packed into one large box, caaaarefully sealed up and then unceremoniously thrown down a fight of stairs.

My building skill level wasn't all the great back then anyway and I've managed to replace just about all of them in the past few years thanks to the hobby shows in the area and the Web.

You can stop second guessing that when you figure out how much you would have spent doing something else. 150 kits plus supplies is probably well under $2000 or around $150 a month or $5 a day. Now think what you would have spent if instead of sitting at the bench building a model you were out spending money. Just going to a movie by yourself for 2 hours costs about the same as a week of modelling once you add up the ticket, popcorn and a soda.
