I just listed these on my site.

This means that I am all done (for now) with the 50 Ford F-8 "Big Job" resin items. Of course these can be used for any types of old Big Rigs. More Classic Heavy Truck stuff to come later. But now I think I am going to get back on the 69 Chevelle wagon.

Thanks for looking

Matt, approx how long are those springs in the single set? I need some that would fit in place of the Monogram's Ford F350 or the new F250's rear springs to replicate these springs on my 1:1 F350.

Those look like they are near perfect for what I need.

They are a 1/16th from being 2 inches long. If you are interest in just the springs. E-mail me and I will work that out with you.

Thanks, Matt. I'll measure the springs on my F350 kit and the 1:1 and see if they will work. If so, I will email you, Thanks again.

Thanks

I have to give Dave Bell of Peoria Az. the credit for mastering these pieces. I just made the mold and cast them. He is the real talent.

Thanks again for the info, Matt. I just checked the length of my stock spring setup in my F350 kit, and unfortunately your beautiful springs are way to short for the setup under my 1:1. ;) The stock kit springs are almost 2.5 inches long, which scales very close to the nearly 5 foot length of the 1:1 setup. I will keep them in mind, though, I may just have to settle with shorter springs on the model.

Matthew,

I would go for it, the details in matt/dave's springs would look correct just because of how detailed they are with the leaf overlap! ;)

Unless someone actually knew how long a f350 rear spring was, I dont think they would know the difference..I wouldn't!(but you gotta please yourself..not others..hehe)

You make a very good point, Ryan, and they are the closest I've found to the real things so far! Now just to find a 7.3 Liter Diesel for under the hood! ;)

I tell ya guys. This talk had got me doing some thinking. I told Dave tonight at our model club meeting, about this spring deal. So we got talking about doing just some different length leaf springs and over loaders and just offering them. Dave does such a nice job on these things and he loves scratch building. Making these springs are just fun to him and he would not mind making a few. So let me know some general sizes that would be nice to have and maybe we will come out with 2 or 3 different sizes in resin.

What's your thoughts?

That is great! Just springs would be a hot seller in my opinion.

Axles are great..but we don't need them some times..so a option of just buying springs would be great!

I know a lot of truck guys have axles sitting around (I know I do!many louisville ones and even dana/9inch smaller axles as well.)

Yea,Ryan. I was thinking just that. Dave is making a set rigth now for me that will basicly replace the ones in the Chevy Titan. I had a few people e-mail me asking if I has springs that would replace the ones from that kit. I guess that those are pretty common sets of springs that are used on many big rigs.

If you guys are liking this classic big rig subject. Wait till you see what we have in the works.

Nice! Yea the ones on that kit are a beast to work with. I redid the ones on the Single axle louisvilles,

What it comes down to is really, details are not sharp and folks just hate dealing with mold lines on springs, its one of the biggest turnoffs building a old kit..imo. Plus its easier to scrape off a mold line in resin rather than styrene hehe.

Cant wait to see the new stuff!

I think it would be a great idea, especially with modelers like me who have special heavy duty projects that need a heavier duty suspension than the kits supply. One size I could suggest is a replacement for the Monogram F350/F250 kits, another maybe for the Chevy 1500 trucks from AMT and the newer Chevy 1500 from Revell. I have builds planned using those kits to build tow trucks, which need the heavier suspension like the pictures of my 1:1 truck has. In fact, the reason my 1:1 truck has such a heavy duty suspension is because it was formerly a tow truck. Offhand, I can think of five different tow truck conversion builds I could use a heavier duty spring set for. If you would like or need to use my pics for reference, feel free, and I also have a post in 1:1 Truck Reference. Here is a link to it:

For starters. I am going to talk with dave this weekend. We are getting together with our model build group this Sunday. I have a built up I bought for the wheels. Of the old Monogram F350 Duelie. I am going to give dave that and the photos from under your truck and have him knock out a set of springs that will work under that model kit. I am sure he will have the master done in a few days. I do not know when I would be getting it into rubber. I have a few other projects going on right now. But I think that we can start having a few different size leaf spring sets her soon. I know that I am about to make a pre 48 Marmmon-Harrington 4wd conversion kit (again mastered by Dave Bell) that has another nice set of springs with it. I am also working on a "Gasser" front end kit that will have some nice springs.

Thanks for all of your input guys.

What's funny about this is that my wallet just walked into the room, threw it's tiny hands up in the air and said, "That's it, I quit!!!! I can't do this anymore, you keep using me and leaving me with this big empty feeling inside and I'm not doing it any more!!!":(:(...

... And all I had said was, "I see a vintage '38 Ford 4x4 in my future."... :P:( You keep coming up with great ideas and parts! I love it!

I'll tell you what... Between you, AITM and a few other resin manufacturers, I could easily owe more than my annual income... I can say this openly now that my wallet walked out on me earlier today ;) ; I will build a tandem drive F-8. I'll have to get the parts a little at a time, as funds allow, but I will build it!!! I am very impressed with the work you do. This forum has exposed me to so many new ideas and options, I'm still actually trying to wrap my mind around all of it...

I saw a build article about a 1/25 F-8 several years ago but at the time I didn't want to get that involved in a project that required scratchbuilding the engine and modifying every other component... (I can only do so much of that at a time and it ceases to be fun...) Seems to me that those problems have been conveniently solved for me. I look forward to what's on the horizon!

Thanks, Chris. For your enthusiasm on this F-8. I had builders like you in mind why I came up with the idea of buying this kit, piece by piece. That is why I did not want to make this a complete kit. We put allot of thought and time into this project. I only have one more thing to finish, and it will be finished. The front suspension. I need to make the drag link mold this weekend. Yes we have some many more items that we are coming up with for later. You will all like them.

I was posting these items on the Commercial Transportation and Equipment Builders Model Club board, but surprisingly. Those guys do not seem to have much interest in this F-8 resin. I cannot believe that I am getting a bigger reaction from the model CAR community and not getting much of anything from the Model TRUCKING community. I was getting a little nervous for a little bit. Thinking that I may have wasted some precious time and money on this. But now I do not think so. These items have really started selling for me. So this makes me want to do more.

Thanks for all of your input, guys.

Thanks, Matt, that will save me a lot of work!!! If you or Dave need, here is a couple of pics of the spring from the outside of the truck.

As I said, there are more pics in the reference thread, and if Dave needs any measurements or other info or pics, please feel free to ask, I will help in any way possible. The 1:1 is just outside in the driveway! ;) Thanks again, Matt.

It's a wonderful idea, a kitbashers dream, really. If somebody needed just one component for a build, they don't have to buy the entire kit. I wish more resin companies did it this way.

From all my research, the one place that stands out that has plenty of working bigjob fords, still doing their duties to this day is Cuba! USA still has many doing what they do..but majority (whats left) are rotting in a field some where.

Granted the cuban trucks almost always have a different running chassis under the f-7/8 body panels..but hey..whatcha gonna do? hehe.
