Brian Vickers has been sidelined indefinitely for the rest of the season due to blood clots. Replacing him in the #83 car will be Casey Mears. Its a shame, because Vickers is a relatively good driver, though his finishes never seem to reflect it. Heck, he got a 10th place at Darlington Saturday evening.

Hate to hear stuff like that. I really like the kid!

If he has to stay on blood thinners he will be done racing! :P

Brian Vickers is a really cool dude. So Is Mears and they go way back. These guys used to be basically teammates at one time. Brian is a heck of a driver and has had that odd luck of I can lead all but the last few laps. I pray for a great guy to get better and fast. he has been a part of great racing teams and is to young for this to pull him out of a car. Hang in there and get well soon.

I really hate my guy is out for the rest of the season, but at least he is doing

better and nothing seriously happened.

I hated to hear this, but I wish him well. I think his health is more important

than racing at the moment :blink:B)

I just watched the All star race. I had to record it and watch it sunday but Brian Vickers was class act. During intros he came out and saluted his team and Casey Mears and gave fans high fives! I hope he recovers as fast as he drives! We miss ya Brian!

Living in Charlotte, one gets a little more NASCAR news than in other parts of the country as NASCAR is a big part of the economy and history here.

The news about Brian Vickers has been all over the local stations and I think one of them had an interview with a doctor trying to explain his condition and treatment. Brian said the other night "I can race, I am just not allowed to crash!", which I think is a great outlook on his situation. He will have to find a way to rid his body of the blood clots and get off the blood thinners if he ever wants to drive a race car again. In an article in the local paper it said that he is limited in what he can do for awhile as they treat him. I know when my dad was on blood thinners he had to be careful as to not cut himself. He used an electric razor, wore gloves and avoided situations where he might get hurt, not easy to do in the construction trade.

I too hope he makes a full recovery and is back behind the wheel soon. He seems like a class guy and has talent.
