Ok guys, I see a lot of you who do Pro-Touring type builds state you are getting the rims/tires from Die-cast cars. My question is which ones? The Maisto brand 1/24th are more like 1/22nd and the rims (already big to begin with) are just WAY too big for 1/24th-1/25th. Jada has similar issues. Help a fellow plastic whacker out here guys, toss this old scale dog a bone. Thanks.

What about Pegasus (don't know if I spelled that right) wheels? I've seen quite a few nice builds with those.

I know about (and have several sets of each) Pegasus and Aoshima (also Fujimi and is it JPS?). Thanks for the heads-up though, just in case I was unaware of them. I was asking about the ones coming from the Die-Cast world (I just spent $12.00 on a Die-Cast just to find the rims are too big).

Eyeball Engineering.

I it looks too big, it probley is.

I've bought a few diecast toys just for the wheels and tires.

$10 is cheap and some come with disc brakes too. B)

I learned the hard way that if you're looking for aftermarket parts, you need to:

1. Be able to go to a store that sells them.

2. Take your kit along to compare against what you might buy.

Well, of all things, the rear wheels of the Jada 'Big Time Muscle' 1/32 scale cars are a close match for 1/24th-1/25th cars scale! The fronts spec out to 17" in 1/25th, but the rears spec out to 20" in 1/25th and 19" in 1/24th!

I took a wheel/tire combo from my Revell 1/25th 2007 Mustang GT500 with me when I went into Wally-World yesterday and walked out with two Die-Casts just for the rear wheels ($10.70 total for the pair of die-casts). The search continues.

Which of the 'Big time muscle' series did you get? I've picked up a couple of the '69 Camaros and have thought about a few others, but our Walmart has a limited selection. Actually, their selection of ANY diecast has been very limited for about 2 years ,now......'Z'

You might want to check out the Maisto 'G Rides' line of stuff; I've found most of those have around 17"-20" wheels, with a fairly realistic tire too. A lot of the diecast stuff has inaccurate looking tires;you have to REALLY check closely and they are not packaged so that you can tell without opening them.

The 67 GT500. I saw the Camaro and thought the ralleys looked good. Wal-Mart here has severely cut back their Die-Cast and no longer carries much of anything. Thanks for the tip on the 'G-Rides'.......I have some of their 1/64th stuff (FOX Mustangs), but can't find any of their 1/24th stuff.

IMO it depends on what your building. I know the Jada fronts and rears are big (fronts are about 21 inch, and the rears scale out to about 28 inch). If you visit some of the larger car shows (Detroit Autorama for example) .. you'll easily see cars of all types wearing wheels and tires of this size. 17-19 inch are small by todays standards and 20's are getting more common and somewhat on the small side. At least on the show car circuit where Pro Touring cars are wearing a minimum of 20's up front and 22+ on the rears. I've seen Street Rods wearing even bigger 26-28's on the rears. Its all preference and whether or not the wheels / tires physically fit the application your working on. So, although some of the diecast stuff looks out of scale, its really not. Especially considering the extreme 1:1's some folks are building these days. I cant divulge any info, but there will be more "Pro Touring" options for modelers coming soon w/out having to buy diecasts. ;)

You might want to check out any local flea market/barter days/whatever weekend selling type gathering there is. They always have a few tables full of die casts down here. I've even found some vendors with just wheel sets containing four wheels, tires and brakes with 2 axles. Might be worth a look.

Ok, SHUCKY, you've piqued my interest! Can you tell us when we may be able to expect these pro-touring wheel/tire sets? Please, please, please? Ok, I'll quit whining for now, but I NEED some of those!

20"-21" is about as big as I would like to go, as I am building a street-driven vehicle......not a show ride. I still need some vague indidcation of a possible working suspension without MASSIVE metal work. Something you might actually see at a traffic light (I say this when a friend of mine is tucking 20" fronts and 22" rears under a 56 Chevy wagon; but the metal work and suspension fab needed is out of the realm of most 'modern' daily driven musclecars).

Okay, okay  I'll post more "official" news in due time but I'm working on aluminum sleeves of multiple sizes all the way up to a scale 28 inches for the most extreme Pro Touring and Hot Rod builds. Will have tires for all sleeves as well as custom wheel centers in various styles that I'm mastering now. More options like brakes, billet wheel centers, etc all in the works if demand is high enough. There is no selling on this site, so I will find out how to properly post the news when the time comes.

Strada Sports, Scale Dreams, Pegasus Hobbies.....they seem to have a great selection of various sized wheels that will work. I will be stopping at a truck stop on my way to Columbus this weekend and will see what they have.
