dartman Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 Have any of you used the testors decal paper? Can I use any printer or something special?I have been wanting to try it but I dont want to waste 10.00 on it if I cant use it or its not worth trying. Thanks
diymirage Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 i have used it with good results there are 2 things to really keep an eye one most important what printer do you have ? testors has decal paper for inkjet and laser printers and the two can NOT be mixed secondly, what are you printing ? the reason i ask is because there is white and clear decal paper the clear will not show white so you will have to paint the white parts before aplying the decal the white will need to be cut very precise so you wont get a halo effect having said all this...you may want to out ebay for generic decal paper i just ordered 10 A4 size sheets for 13 dollars shipped
diymirage Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 this one i printed on testors white paper and the hood on this one is printed on testors clear (just the girl, the blue fade out is airbrushed)
Pete J. Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 Here is one of the best deals I have found. http://www.decalpaper.com/category-s/2.htm It is really good quality stuff, very thin film and it prints very well. It is full 8 1/2" X 11" and you can order a mixed set, half white half clear. On my HP printer I have a photo tray, so I cut mine up to 4x5 and run it through that since I rarely print a full size sheet. Also when I run decal on white, I use Adobe Photo shop Essentials and put a very fine black boarder around the image. That gives me a cut line and hides any halo. Have fun!
dartman Posted May 20, 2010 Author Posted May 20, 2010 Thanks for the replys.Right now I am useing one of the new kodak printers.I wanted to try and copy a existing decal sheet that I have. Thanks for the link pete,I will give them a try also.
59 Impala Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 I also use Testors paper, white and clear. Here is a little tip on saving paper. First print your image on regular paper using the draft setting, to save ink, then cut a piece of decal paper a little bit bigger than the image and tape it to the regular paper and run it thru the printer again. You have to use double sided tape for this. I have saved a lot of decal paper printing this way. I hope this will help someone. Dan
