brett Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 newer tool revell body on top sportsman chassis with resin funnycar engine mated to the top sportsman lenco tried making carbon fibre stickers I guess out of tamiya tape and paint ,they're a bit thick and the patterns a bit faint in places but for something that'll hardly be seen it may be alright.(Try and get better pic tomorrow)
brett Posted May 31, 2010 Author Posted May 31, 2010 decided I could do better so pulled the homemade fibre off. Made the rear wing and painted the front of the frame. While waiting for that to dry mocked it up on another "built" chassis to check the ride hight. Heres how it sits
brett Posted June 3, 2010 Author Posted June 3, 2010 Thanks guys, well despite the three or four or more hours put into this you probably wont even see it . I'd cut nearly all the way through the sides of the car then straightened them to remove some of the curve under the body, otherwise they cut right into the slick . Its actually widened the body by about 4 or 5 mm each side at the bottom. Started on the blower shroud /cowl and put the fins on the wing. Primed and touched up the filler then sanded just before these pics, which dont show much.
W-409 Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 That's looking like killer I'm a big fan of PM/TDS racecars. This build is coming very nicely, keep on the good work and keep us posted!
brett Posted June 4, 2010 Author Posted June 4, 2010 Thanks Niko, bit more priming and sanding today, fixed the wheelbase started the interior. Not going to be super detailing ,just enough to look the part. First blast of colour
brett Posted June 6, 2010 Author Posted June 6, 2010 not sure if its worth continuing with progres on here so heres possibly last update. Color no.2

brett Posted June 14, 2010 Author Posted June 14, 2010 outlined the flames and letters with fine metallic green not that it shows up very well, also started on the engine detailing
W-409 Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 Nice paintjob and letters! Also that engine looks very nice and the detailing is awesome! Good job so keep it going!
MADmodelDOCTOR Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 Looking real nice. Keep it going. Maybe a solid lime stripe would work on the flames. later,
brett Posted July 5, 2010 Author Posted July 5, 2010 Thanks guys, tis appreciated. Well had to redo the green striping anyway, nearly three weeks later while decaling the gel rbbed off so have redone it with green enamel.
jasoncamaro Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 Brett this is looking great where do you get the resin engine from or do you cast your own?
brett Posted July 5, 2010 Author Posted July 5, 2010 Thanks man, most of this one is from a guy in the petrolheads club, I have cast my own but cant do a pour till I get some new resin (hopefully in a couple of weeks). Then I'll only have to get hats off him. And no I didnt copy his stuff I modified some kit stuff from a funnycar.hes way to nice a guy to rip off and he taught me most of what I know about casting.
brett Posted July 12, 2010 Author Posted July 12, 2010 only a little progress at the moment, got the interior stuff made up bottles, dash and belts not going to detailed with this as nobody will see much of the interior with the doors closed.
