mind-9 Posted June 7, 2010 Author Posted June 7, 2010 Ok update, Got the model out of the box and find out it has a resin veilside set and no tbar roof sigh, Well i know resin parts don't glue to polystyrene parts so i search google (again )and came up on this site http://www.scalemodelguide.com/guide/construction/using-resin-parts/ So now i know this ,i start cutting in the model take the bumpers of and the skirts, draw the panels on the roof and take out the roof panels. you see lot of work i also think making the doors working ,maybe if i can find the wright engine i will put that in as well because the model doesnt have one . ok guy's and girls see you next time.
mind-9 Posted June 7, 2010 Author Posted June 7, 2010 Welcome and it's always a blast building something you own. Very nice looking MR-2 you have. That blue is beautiful. Hi Foxer, The bleu is a Citroen color it called Bleu myosotis we first painted the car white and than we put the bleu on top of it like this the paint gets lighter.
diymirage Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 looks like your off to a good start i think i have seen these kits build before and they are a lot of work but from the looks of it you can handle it interesante keus in verf was je echt verknocht aan die citroen kleur of kon je hem goedkoop krijgen ? (ik mag natuurlijk niks zeggen over kleur want ik heb vroeger deze kadett gehad)
mind-9 Posted June 8, 2010 Author Posted June 8, 2010 looks like your off to a good start i think i have seen these kits build before and they are a lot of work but from the looks of it you can handle it interesante keus in verf was je echt verknocht aan die citroen kleur of kon je hem goedkoop krijgen ? mind-9 Posted June 8, 2010 Author Posted June 8, 2010 Ok have done some homework got the doors out found some Spargo seats and orderd the same wheels like my car so far so good.
mind-9 Posted June 8, 2010 Author Posted June 8, 2010 some pics. so the doors are out spargo,s fits nicely lets do the bodykit.
mind-9 Posted June 8, 2010 Author Posted June 8, 2010 WOWW that kit is a real pain (well you now where) it doesnt fit at all Had to make some changes the nose was not wide enough about 4 mm the skirts are to short about 3mm and the rearbumper well not wide enough also 2mm. Well first put it on the car as good as it gets and then we will see. Ok the kit is on the car let it dry overnight then start to fill the gaps and holes. se you next time o and still did not find an engine.
jbwelda Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 first of all, nice 1:1 car! i have never seen one in real life so thats a treat to even see a photo of someones real one! but yeah most of those kits with the body kits require a lot of fitting, cutting and filling to get them to fit correctly. ive built a couple of skyline and silvias with body kits like that and nothing fit out of the box. but they looked very nice when done. good luck and keep posting...opening those doors is going to lead to some interesting reading in the near future i think...will be interesting to see how you handle the challenges. some not so good photos of the cars i built...dont mean to hijack your thread, just want to show they can be made to look good. actually i dont recall if the garage defender silvia had fit problems because it had the sides moulded in but i do remember quite a bit of fitting and cutting and filling on the skyline.

mind-9 Posted June 14, 2010 Author Posted June 14, 2010 Hallo you all, After a day of filling and sanding i put the first layer of primer. i also made the decals for the doors This is a scan of the door wich i use to get the right size for the decals then print them on transfer paper but that's for another day, first do some more sanding and finishing the door's. till the next time.
mind-9 Posted June 15, 2010 Author Posted June 15, 2010 Update, well it's getting along after some sanding and put some primer on it, i finaly got the paint on first white and then the bleu. mind-9 Posted June 20, 2010 Author Posted June 20, 2010 Today i have made de decals for the MR2,Hard job to do that' to make de decals thats easy you can use any paint program on your comp i use paintshop. then you have to scale it (so it fit your project) then print it on decal paper and spray some lacquer over it (this is because else the ink will disapear) so far so good, but after i put it on the car you can barely see it the color shine,s treu so on a dark color it,s hard to see. i found out i have to change the printer settings from normal paper to transparant sheet (nobody told me that when i bought the decal paper sigh )well any way i place the decals and place the doors (thanks aftashox for the great door tut)now i can start on the inside of the car. Some pics. this is the scan i use to scale it to the right size. And this is the result. (sorry if the pics are not that sharp need a new cam) See you next time
mind-9 Posted June 30, 2010 Author Posted June 30, 2010 ok guys and girls don't panic still there. just a vacation next week more.
