iBorg Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 I have a Flintstone Mercury that I'd like to thin to make it easier to make the kit full detailed. Any good and safe ways to thin the body down? Thanks, Mike
dencon Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 YES and do it outside. Resin kicks out a very fine dust. About like baby powder. It also floats all over the place and is really bad for you to breath in. It will get all over the place.
Guest Chris V Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 Here's an additional tip for grinding out resin with a motor-tool: Place the object you're working on in a suitably-sized plastic container, that you've rubbed with a piece of synthetic cloth/fabric. This will build up a static charge, that will attract most of the resin dust and collect it at the bottom of the container. As the others have said, ALWAYS use appropriate respiratory protection when (dry) sanding resin - you don't wanna breathe that stuff in!!!
iBorg Posted June 8, 2010 Author Posted June 8, 2010 I appreciate everyone's suggestion so far. The static charge suggestion. That is one I'd never would have thought of. Thanks, Mike
