Does he mean the body was molded in black plastic? I have every issue of that kit and none of them have the body molded in black?

The Mongoose Duster FC was available in black plastic. Wasn't it called Cop-Out or something? I don't remember the 'cuda being re-released in black though.

Hi Ben, He thought one of the cuda kits was molded in black. Do you have the kit#'s for the kits you have? Photos? LMK. It might help to figure out what kit he is actually looking for. Thanks for your help. Steve

Hi Andy, He might be mistaken about the cuda being molded in black. I asked ben for more help. Steve

Hey Steve, the Duster was offered as several different funny cars including the Cop Out and that body was molded in black. The Cuda was offered one time I believe as a funny car other than the Snake but it was molded in white. The original Snake Cuda is molded in yellow, the second issue is molded in yellow and the third "combo kit" has the body molded in White. I don't have pictures of the kits open but the boxes can be seen on my Fotki site.

IIRC, the Duster F/C was alos issued as the "Duster's Last Stand" car, probably at the same time as the Great White Cuda kit.

I don't recall there ever being a kit of the Snake's black 'Cuda, as I think he only ran that car for part of the '74 season before his Vega body was ready.

The black car was raced one time, in 72, at the last drag race at Lions.

Well, I have the Cuda funny car that was molded in black. I am 99 percent shure, it was called Black Gold. Mine is painted orange though, but it is indeed molded in black.... I think I still have the box, but Im about to move, so everything is packed in boxes... If I find it soon, I will post a picture....

Here´s my model:

Would'nt surprize me! Even after all these years of building and collecting models, every once and a while a kit pops up that i've never seen and i've seen a LOT of kits!!!!! The Duster was also released molded in light green. I forget the name on it though?

That Great White Cuda was the one I had remembered being molded in white.

Some added food for thought as a possibility. My father bought a rather large collection of unbuilt kits from a designer at Revell a number of years ago and there were a large number of kits that were molded in colors that were never released, or meant to be released in those colors. There was a S'cool Bus (Monogram kit) that was molded in orange. A 1/16th funny car kit that the body was molded in a blue and white marbled pattern. There were plenty of others with different colors. That would be something to consider as I'm sure other manufacturers possibly had the same thing happen.

Well Wayne, as I mention in my first post, this Cuda WAS in fact molded in black. It was issued as "Black gold", and it is that issue of the Cuda, that I have...

I dont think the model companies would let the " Plastic color specials" hit the shelves...

Well, I found the box. I did not remember the name correct though, it was called Black Magic, not Black gold.

Here are the pics of the box....
