highway Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 Nice builds, I have the Lone Wolf truck too, that is the one I put the monster sleeper on. The black one, though, is actually an Aeromax 106, and is very similar to the Aeromax 120. I think the cabs are based on the 9000 series on both the models and the real trucks, but the real LTL 9000 is the Lone Wolf, but if I remember correctly, the Aeromax wasn't a 9000 series truck.
highway Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 By the way, did you build the container box stock or did you modify it? I have one I modified to a more U.S. spec chassis, I didn't really like the Euro spec chassis.
Madd Trucker Posted June 19, 2010 Author Posted June 19, 2010 Highway you are right my bad the black oneis an Aeromax and ment that for the tile for the container is is a stock build being Ihave peronaly loaded over 2900 by my self the chassis is Euro spec but have one under way for US spec the container its self is correct

I found it is very easy to convert it to a U.S. spec, and if you want, I have a couple pics of my modified one.
Madd Trucker Posted June 20, 2010 Author Posted June 20, 2010 Highway I would like to see your pics of the US spec
highway Posted June 20, 2010 Posted June 20, 2010 (edited) Highway I would like to see your pics of the US spec That's no problem, I don't have any in progress pics because I did this way before I started posting anywhere, but it wasn't very much to do the modification, anyway! This is the overall look, and I moved the kingpin forward to set the trailer nose more over the tractor's quarter fenders and farther from the rear of the cab. That is just my personal preferences, I set the fifth wheel on the 1:1s I drove the same way so the nose lined up with the quarter fenders. The pen tip here shows where the kingpin was and how far I moved it: I cut the front suspension hangers that were molded (I think, it's been a while ) to the frame and used an old build up of AMT's Freuhauf flatbed suspension as a guide for the U.S. style tandems. I left all the rear suspension hangers where they were. I also used the spoke wheels and tires from the old build up and cut the Euro style taillights off the back, and I'm planning on just making small taillight panels with the round taillights and add some mudflaps to finish the rear. It may not be 100% correct to the prototypes, and it was just modifying the kit's parts to look the way I wanted, but I think it pulled the look off just fine. P.S.: Sorry for all the dust, but I started this about 5 years ago, and that's as far as I ever got truck or trailer! Edited June 20, 2010 by highway

highway Posted June 20, 2010 Posted June 20, 2010 where did you get the volvo truck? ive been looking for one. It Italeri's VN 780 (kit #3818). I won this at a show's kit raffle 2 or 3 years ago, but I have seen them on ebay. I believe Italeri also did a VN 660 and also offered the VN 660 in a truck/trailer combo kit. It's a nice kit, the frame is molded in one piece, so no misalignment issues, but does not have an engine or opening hood.

Jim B Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 Matthew, that trailer looks really nice. That's in 1/24, right? So you know the AeroMax106 is a LTA9000, and the AeroMax120 is a LTLA9000. There as an AeroMax 8000 (LA8000), which I believe, was a lighter speced AeroMax106. AeroMax106 AeroMax120

The pic in the brochure page of the blue and silver 120 looks exactly like the pic on the box of my Revell USA boxed Italeri Aeromax 120!
Kostas Parchas Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 Richard, Nice rigs you have there. I am trying to find the far west truck five years now but without luck.
